Sound of the 60s. A bit samey. Not the best from the Beatles.
Can recognise the quality and contribution to the genre here. "Good indie" is an oxymoron, but this is about bearable, if a bit dull.
Solid debut album. Easy listening music to chillax to. A pleasant surprise.
Quite a mix of musicality going on here but comes across as an unorganised mess. Not exactly an enjoyable listen - an acquired taste!
Not heard anything like this before but wow, I really enjoyed this. A mix of genres that all come together. Not usually into rap, but the singer has an excellent voice and it mixes well throughout the album in a variety of music styles. Fantastic!
One absolute belter of a song, but apart from that pretty mid and a bit boring. "One" does a lot of heavy lifting here.
Can't speak a word of Portuguese, but man, didn't need it. The soulful jazz gave me a big cuddle and teleported me to a warm evening dining out at a samba bar on the outskirts of Rio - time to pour a Caipirinhas and just chill. Understated brilliance!
A couple of interesting songs (Good Golly Miss Molly probably the best) and Proud Mary is a classic, but not enough to get over the slow filler in the rest of it. Not a big fan of the "cowboy American" rock genre and this seems to be a typical bit of that.
An album that starts big but tails off heavily towards the end. A couple of songs that sit permanently in the public zeitgeist, so impossible to not see the contribution here. Am happy to leave the album fillers along and just listen to the classics, so overall, a bit mid.
Certainly a unique sound but I found the slow constant beat of the snare drum was something akin to torture. Some interesting mix of styles going on but not something I would go back to.
Quite dull - reminded me of the four emo days I had when I was 14.
Quite a surprise. I really enjoyed the mix of mellow and upbeat. Great voice. A genuinely great find, though an hour and a half is a bit of a marathon.
Weird techno shit that all sounded the same - in fact, exactly the same sound as a trash compactor crushing a stereo playing Nick Cave!
First time hearing this album in its whole. A good few of the songs exist in popular culture (and Bohemian Rhapsody probably elevates above this) but hearing the variety of this album really brings everything together. Freddie's voice shines. Fantastic.
Very easy listening soulful music from Van the Man. Really enjoyed having this on in the background. Quite front-loaded, but that's nit-picking. A great listen.
Good mix of soul, blues, (early) reggae, etc. The guy has got a soulful voice. Not exactly my cup of tea but difficult to criticise.
