The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses

This album made me feel calm, at ease, and nostalgic for something I have never experienced. I loved the sound and how easy-going it was. How have I never heard this before? It was honestly fantastic.

Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart
Aug 24 2025

Helt ok, lät ganska generiskt "papparock" i mina öron. Ingen lowpoint. Kanske skulle ha igång i köket någon gång

Blackstar by David Bowie
Aug 25 2025

Maybe not my thing, but I quite dislike this. Felt like Bowie was the worst part of every song and the vibe did not work for me. Almost stopped listening after 1-2 songs, but it got better with Lazarus which was a big step up. Finished mediocre at best. Can add that 1 song to my playlists, but have no desire to listen again.

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Aug 26 2025

She can obviously sing, and I quite liked the album. It did however get a little one note after a few songs, and I felt like every song tried to be intense for most of the album. The album is only 33 minutes, but I managed to get tired of the intensity, energy and her voice around halfway through. The last few songs blew some fresh air and it finished nicely. Solid, and I could see myself listening to it again, but much of the album felt samey. It really needed some softer songs in the middle so you get a break. Also I didn't feel like there was any stand out songs I would listen to otherwise.

Starts strong and has a lot of energy. The mood swings wildly between songs but they are vowen together nicely. Also the opening is fantastic. I want to like this album but it's hard. The big, big negative is that it gets a loud a little bit to often, both from James and screams from the audience, but I understand that it's a bit of the charm with a live recording. It gets a bit jarring for me when the song has a nice groove and it gets "interrupted" every 10-20 seconds. I guess I feel like there is a disconnect between the energy in the songs and the audience in most parts. Also some songs can feel like they get a little bit repetitive in text and sound. I feel like there is a soundmix/alternate recording of this set that is fantastic. I got annoyed listening to this. Haven't really listened to James Brown before but I'm a fan. Might give it another try at some other time in another setting, but I don't think I would play this again "for fun". I would rather seek out some other live album or one of his studio ones and give them a try. No particular song from this album would go into my playlists though.

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Aug 28 2025

You could really feel that they had fun making the album. The vibe I get is of friends goofing around. I like that the album is so positive. I gave it a good listen, but to be fair I am not very good at hearing the lyrics to songs. I probably would need to sit concentrated with the lyrics in front of me to get the "intended" experience. I personally feel like the album has aged poorly. I get that it was influential and unique when it came out, but having listened to the things that come after this one it no longer stands out to me. I have also heard so many different spoofs of this style produced after this record that I can't take some of the songs seriously even though I tried. Some of the beats were good, but most of the album didn't really resonate with me. Honestly some songs just registered as noice. It did however just breeze by despite the runtime. A few songs I liked, including for example Eye Know, Magic Number. I am glad I listened to it and it was fun, but I will probably never feel the urge to listen again. Ultimately not for me.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Aug 29 2025

A nice sombre listen. I like every single on the album, and they are woven together nicely with "filler tracks" in a satisfying way.

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Aug 30 2025

This album made me feel calm, at ease, and nostalgic for something I have never experienced. I loved the sound and how easy-going it was. How have I never heard this before? It was honestly fantastic.

Da Capo by Love
Aug 31 2025

I really like the beats and music in about half the album, but the song/melodies are bland at best and some more excessive parts drag this album down for me. Feel like there is talent and potential here but not much more than that. Sound feels very 60's and ultimately nothing special. I feel like there could be another album from this band that's fantastic, but as it stands I didn't really like any of the songs. It wasn't terrible or anything, but I have no desire to listen again and will probably have forgotten this album in a few days.

Club Classics Vol. One by Soul II Soul
Sep 01 2025

This was the album that made me get the book. I had to find out why this was on the list. This was just boring. Every song felt like 2 beats on repeat. One of the vocalists managed to make it even worse and the lyrics detracted even from that experience. This felt like nothing, and I have no desire to ever give it a second listen.

The Cars by The Cars
Sep 02 2025

Sounds decent but nothing special to my ears. Pioneering a sound is of course impressive. Going back to the original after hearing the things that came after almost always makes it sound less impressive than it was at the time. The album is varied and there is some nice sounds and beats in it. The main feeling I get when I listen to the album is nostalgia, and it makes me feel like I'm outside with friends on a warm summer night. There is nothing I would say I dislike about the album, but none of the tracks are standouts to me. Will probably never play again, but wouldn't mind listening to it again if someone else puts it on.

Signing Off by UB40
Sep 04 2025

I wouldn't say that I never listen to reggae, but I rarely find artists I enjoy. I mostly know UB40 from their later covers which I dislike, but I found this album quite enjoyable. Solid varied music. I liked it.

All Hail the Queen by Queen Latifah
Sep 05 2025

"Easy" hiphop album where I could understand all the lyrics in one listen. That's quite a feat. First song I felt was like a introduction song where she sings about her name being Queen Latifa and that she is good at rapping. Second song was also about that. Fair enough. Third song I figured that might be all she is going to sing about. Fourth song same thing again. I was kinda into it though. It made for an easy listen, and started getting funny around the fourth song. Felt kind of like a spoof on hiphop albums. Not sure that was intended. Worked for me though!

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
Sep 06 2025

I've never really listened to Iron Maiden, but I can see why they became so popular. Really liked this album.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Sep 08 2025

Amazing album. Every song is a banger! Perfect listen for moody days.

1999 by Prince
Sep 09 2025

This was very disco. I guess I don't really like it. To be fair me listening with headphones on the balcony might not be the intended experience.

Deserter's Songs by Mercury Rev
Sep 11 2025

Not really my jam. Thought the album was a bit boring to be honest. The songs were okay, but every song felt like the slow song of the album.

Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys
Sep 12 2025

Nice album.

Low by David Bowie
Sep 13 2025

Very vibey album. If I am in the right headspace I would listen again.

Screamadelica by Primal Scream
Sep 14 2025

The first song had me pumped but I felt the album very quickly lost steam. Didn't really like it. Headphones ran out of battery second to last song and didn't bother to finish it.
