I can appreciate rock and roll, even if I’m not a huge David Bowie fan. The intro of Station to Station was slightly irritating but I guess I can see what he was going for. I just usually like when people get right into the music, I’m not a huge fan of listening to just noise for 2 mins straight. Stay is my favorite song on this album but I probably wouldn’t seek it out to listen to it again. Overall not my favorite but also not the worst. Solid 6/10
A great palette cleanser after David Bowie. I’m a sucker for strong instrumentals and a rich, raw vocalist. Son of a Preacher Man is just a classic. So catchy, but not annoyingly familiar. The horn in Just One Smile was perfect and added richness when it already felt rich enough, but absolutely not too much. I agree with Cameron on The Windmills of Your Mind - her version has a subtle Latin feel to it and it contrasts really neatly with the rest of the album. Overall tho- a solid 10/10. Zero need for improvement in my opinion.
This is so fun! Wanna jump around and laugh like I’m in a cheesy commercial or the “getting ready” opening sequence in a romcom. The horns, the piano, the strings, all of it just made this so enjoyable. Very much feel like this whole album could be the score of a movie on its own. The only thing is his voice is a little bit harsher than I usually like, but it works for him in some of the songs. 8/10
