I already know and love this album. It has some of Elliot Smiths best songs on it and has the fuller sound that he'd started to explore on XO. Not a perfect album...think it tails off a bit in the second half but I still love it. 4/5 stars
I like James Brown and was lucky to see him live in 1999 (I think). There's a good energy to this album but actually think this isn't the best collection of songs... 3/5
I already knew this one, and have listened to it quite a lot. Hurt is such a huge song...impossible not to be affected by it. I had a bit of a Johnny Cash phase...I love all the outlaw country stuff. Probably goes on a little...but some inspired covers 4/5
Listened over a couple of goes. Freebird obviously stands out..some good 70s rock...not sure it grabbed me. Will try again
An album with Brown Sugar and Wild Horses on it had to rate highly. I do find some Stones albums meander a bit, but their is some real quality on this album. 4/5
I don't love hip hop, but I do like J5...my head bobs to the best tracks. It does go on a little but there are enough highlights to make me come back. Love the lyrical nature of the rapping, it's more melodic and rhythmical than other rap artists. 4/5
One of my favourite Neil Young albums. Off key, melodic (somehow), brutal lyrics...a masterpiece! 5/5
On a purely musical basis I don't love this and don't think I'd listen again. It's very much of It's time and has quite corny arrangements in places. Better when singing the ballads and allowing that beautiful voice to sing through rather than the dodgy 60s lounge style arrangement. 2/5...
Defining 60s songs...gorgeous harmonies, classic songs...just over 30 mins long...what's not to like! 4/5
Not really the type of music I like and this is unlikely to change my mind. Can't really give it a fair rating so just sticking it in the middle.
Tried it. Not really my taste but it had some good samples/beats. May go back to it.
Some classic singles/tracks I know and love (Debaser, Here comes your man). I don't love the rest of it...
I like Love in general, this isn't their best work. Will probably need another listen
I have dipped in and out if this before and found some of the production quite overblown... However...when it hits its groove it's incredible.
Have tried this before following a friend's recommendation. I'm not quite sure what it is...indie rock/grunge/rock... Some of it is quite good but nothing smacked me round the ears.
Some high points...but goes on a bit...it's a bit too much Elton for me in one sitting. Jamaica Jerk off might be one of the worst things I've heard in a long time...
Liked the hits, some if it was yelpy nonsense though. Not for me.
Some angry, funky music...when it hits its belting.. the type of music you need sometimes. Great guitar lines and musicianship throughout. Gets a bit indulgent in places but I can live with it. Won't be an every day album but is something I will come back to.
Sorry...not for me...just too much
