First time listen and very much enjoyed the droning fast passed punk/rock. Like the vocals also.
Well - one of the first albums I ever bought was Peter Gabriel’s Golden Greats and have seen him live twice and been to WOMAD twice in the past 30 years so I am somewhat biased.
What a sound - guitar, voice, roots. First time listen - will listen again.
Well a classic album that I greatly appreciate. I do love Masters of War - amazing and affecting song!
Love these girls - great album first listen and will listen again. They probably don’t make a high rotation sound, something for a bit of nostalgia.
Mixed reviews here - appreciate what these chaps are doing and I love GSH’s voice and prose. There was more than one stinker on this album including ‘Very Precious Time’ which was a difficult listen.
Found the album interesting but not worthy of the hype? Would listen to again.
I liked the ‘vibe’ of some of these tunes eg Small Hours but overall I will not be re-listening in a hurry:|
This album was on high rotation in my house when I had young children. We all loved it!
This is truely beautiful music and makes me cry. What a song is Hazy Jane 1. I have a lot of love for Nick Drake.
Love tricky but was a bit underwhelmed by this album - I must remember to give another listen
Well this is an amazing album but really think it should be ‘Nile Rogers feat. Sledge Sisters’. I love ‘Thinking of You’ - its very romantic :)
Ok - I love The Doors and LA Woman is probably in my Top 20 albums. However, like David Bowie, The Doors have produced some really dross - I cannot stand Alabama Song, and why does Jim need to sing about Back Doors all the time? Really?
Not sure what I am missing here - sounds like early punk or a lesser Rolling Stones? Pretty solid rock n roll but can’t see myself re-listening to this album
Well I love Sound of the Crowd and obs don’t you love me. Some of the other songs prompted interest but not enough to return to.
Had not listened tho this album in full. I like the popular songs and didn’t really like the rest.
Well I absolutely love ‘Don’t stop til you get enough. I’d play this album again
I love Martha Wainwright but cannot stand Rufus’s voice! So when he appeared on this Album I was out. I find it difficult to get past the voice, tone, timbre, vibrato, and broken falceto. Also, the music is more depressing than beautiful which is a drag for someone who like disco! Once is enough for this lot
I appreciate this music and understand its significance to British Punk and Rock. However, I am a child of the eighties and they sound like Fergal Sharky’s side project and he committed serious music crimes in the 80’s
Ok so i thing The Weight is quite a cool arm-in-arm drunken hillbilly song but i discovered Chest Fever which i quite liked. So these two saved the album which i would probably not listen to again.
Love this. I might be a San Getz man rather than a Miles Davis or Charly Bird man - i guess we’ll find out. This music is easy and fun to listen to and i will always put them on!
Quite liked this as an intro to Miles Davis - i assume his landmark album ‘Blue’??? is a bit more avant-garde? Anyway it gets a 4 this time
I quite liked this new album for me. The hip hop sound is quite classicaly 1990s-2000’s so there is some nostalgia aspect to my enjoyment. There are some great tracks that would sound good in a mix due to the cool break beats.
