The Stranger by Billy Joel
Oct 05 2025

4.3 /5 I mean, these songs are iconic and some of my favourites ever: Vienna, She's Always a Woman to Me and Scenes from an Italian Restaurant. I love how "played" the songs in this album feel; it's like I can almost see the person playing the piano or harp. I love the soul in so many of these songs, the songwriting is phenomenal is so many places and really gets to you. I can't quite connect the coherence throughout the album though. The mood shifts a little throughout. I love the similarities in strangers and everybody has a dream. The last piano riff I love- ties is up nicely. I mean it's peak Billy Joel. It's fun, exciting, can be midly melancholic, you love and feel the lyrics, you see the instruments, but its an optimistic one.

Being There by Wilco
Oct 05 2025

Alternative, psychedelic, country 1996. Way more country than I expected. Simple, but it had soul. Someone said it was like a bunch of college kids and it is- it has the energy. Nothing stood out too much but perhaps if I return to it :)

Transformer by Lou Reed
Oct 08 2025

Okay so I didn't love it at first. It was too abrasive, loud and pointed for me at the moment in time. And then i listened again. I don't know this type of music: its familiar. And I really liked some of the songs: perfect day or good night ladies. I love how intentional the piano feels. I like the humour in the lyrics here and there! I keep thinking he is saying fishes in the vicious song and it's so funny. But i still can't get over the voice. He seems like he's reading to me always!

A love the name and album cover. Didn't quite like the album; not made for me. I'm not the person to enjoy the 80s movement and with the voice, the simple repeating chords and instruments, it just wasn't what i need right now :(

The cover art is gorgeous; bleak, gray, colourful, childlike! Very funky, really liked some bits Will give another proper listen!

a very fun and enjoyable experience! One of the more calmer and almost upbeat albums of radio head. I found it almost folksy in places.
