Amazing harmonies on here and tremendous songwriting, what an album to get first. I love these guys' music, it's always really lovely. Paul Simon is one of my favourite songwriters.
The instrumentation and vocals are all top of the range and an absolute joy. My only issue is that all the songs feel very much the same and that prevents this from being a 5. However, it's still incredible.
God this brings the funk and it's also got incredible bass playing on it, if you ask me, the best on any Michael record. I'm on the fence between a 4 and 5 but I'm gonna be a tiny bit harsh just because I think he went on to do even better.
I feel really torn on what rating to give this. I think it's got a great punky attitude and the guitar playing is great but it suffers from what a lot of early-to-mid 60s rock albums suffer from. Covers, and crap ones at that. The Beatles suffered from it, The Stones did, and so did The Who. I think we see glimpses of the titans they'd become on tracks like My Generation and The Kids Are Alright, even A Legal Matter kicks ass too. But some of the stuff on here, you just can't believe it's written by the same guy who wrote Won't Get Fooled Again and Love Reign O'er Me. I give it a high 3.
An album with a wide range of different moods. Their vocals were always phenomenal as well I must say. All in all though this album is very consistent and I don't think there's a dull moment on it. The title-track is phenomenal, however I prefer the version from the Smile sessions. Not much else to say but they were brilliant and so's this.
Not as good as The White Album or Pepper but still great and just an all-round great classic rock record.
A bit more accessible than their other records. Quite a relaxing album and very nice to listen to which, whilst I'm not saying this is a bad thing, isn't an attribute the records they released prior to this have.
I’ve gained a new found appreciation for this album now. On a first listen I found it bloated and some of the songs to be dull but now I’ve realised, after reading up on it and listening to it again that it’s simply a great straight ahead no-nonsense rock and roll record that does everything it’s meant to.
I don't like Blur one bit.
An album where I like every song. I think it might be the best hard rock album of all time.
Phenomenal record through and through. Love the concept on the second side it sounds unreal and so distinct from anything else. Just excellent pop songwriting too. She’s the absolute best and I love her.
I daresay this is my favourite Led Zep album. I love the ethereal nature of it and it's wider range that it has in comparison to the two before it and it's all wrapped up in a nice little bow. Tangerine is one of my favourite songs of theirs and the song that follows it, That's the Way is very underrated. Great record and an absolute classic.
Very good album with phenomenal guitar playing from one of the best to ever do it. It's dripping with 80s excess in all the right ways and is just a blast. Whilst the quality drops in places in the middle, the energy doesn't.
There are times where this album has me jolted, excited and thoroughly enjoying every second of music on display and others where I'm snoozing with my headphones on. However some of the songs on here are truly special and cornerstones of every rock fans diet, including mine. I think that actually sums up my opinion on Led Zeppelin as a whole really.
Like a shot of energy. Such a brilliant, straight-ahead rock album yet so wildly impactful and influential. I just love how mental it is.
Excellent assortment of catchy songs that proved he still had it. I love the guitar and synths on this album.
So much cool shit going on here. I love the light and crazy moments on it. Plus, I think his voice never sounded better than it did on this record. It's perplexing to me how flashy he was with his instrument without it ever sounding overindulgent. I also think this album shows off how great an arranger and songwriter he was. Enough of my geeking now.
My mum's favourite band. I guess it's in the genes because I think this is as close to 80s pop perfection as one could get. It's just great, no notes.
One of the first bands I was ever into. However, it's been a long while since I listened to any of their stuff. It may be the nostalgia talking or I am realising how great of a band they were again because I really enjoyed this trip down memory lane. It may be overplayed but listening to Come As You Are for the first time in at least a year or two nearly brought me to tears, but Breed is the best track though. He wasn't the most skilled on the guitar but he sure knew how to use it to create a hell of a sound.
There’s a reason this is referred to as their best album. It’s because it is.
I enjoy this album a lot. Always a massive blast to listen to some Blondie. My issues with this album is it is very front-loaded and back-loaded, the middle is a bit naf. The best track is Sunday Girl, easily.
It feels awkward giving this a 4 and I really wish there was a .5 system but I just think Moonchild (especially Moonchild) and the title track don’t stick the landing as well as the first 3 tracks do on here. Nevertheless, this is a highly influential record and one of the definitive greats though, and always a pleasure.
I truly don't believe this and I really wanted to share this, before I generated this I was LITERALLY JUST looking at the wikipedia page for it and thinking, "God imagine if I get 2112 now" well I did and I'm happy about it, Rush are one of my favourite bands. Love this album but they did go on to make better music, the title track is my favourite ever song that’s over 10+ minutes. Second side is a little weaker but A Passage To Bangkok is absolutely awesome.
