Scott 4 by Scott Walker
Jan 02 2026

A truth seeker with a golden voice. Interesting lyrical themes that reflect the alternative narratives of the late 60s, at times fantastical and at other times filled with longing for what seems out of reach

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Jan 03 2026

Michael at the height of his career. I forgot how many hits were on this album. Thriller tends to overshadow. Love the blend of pop/dance/soul. Plus, I am a sucker for horn sections. The McCartney duet was fun to listen to. I was surprised Michael wrote music and lyrics. I don't know if he wrote it with Paul McCartney in mind or he wrote it then decided to do it as a duet. Either way, nice blend.

Moon Safari by Air
Jan 04 2026

Nice mellow sounds. I thought the tracks with Beth Hirsch' vocals were particularly good. I really liked the trombone voice on Ce Matin-la. At times I got bored with some of the instrumental electronics

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Jan 06 2026

Easy to listen to since I was in highschool when this album came out. The new wave thing crashed pretty quickly but the album bears all the transition be of the times: disco, pop, rock, and punk lite, her aspirations for being a girl rock band didn't quite but her lyrics were true to her vision; what I might call transfemetive. Not that girl but a new kind of of woman who is comfortable wanting the same things as the "Sunday Girl" buy different.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Jan 07 2026

Better than I expected.

Destroyer by KISS
Jan 08 2026

While most of the appeal of this group is visual with their makeup, costumes, and pyrotechnics, the music is pretty good. The lyrics are somewhat ridiculous but that was part of the act.

All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Jan 09 2026

Rage, despair, and dogged fatalism is a good description for me. "Life has no point but f*** it. We'll just live until we die." At first the frenetic drumming and guitars were energizing but half way through I had to stop listening. I was beginning to tune it all out.The second half was more melodic but just as despairing without the same energy. I am glad I listened to it but too easily mirrors everything around us in the culture.

Duck Rock by Malcolm McLaren
Jan 14 2026

Very interesting listen. Afro-Carribean feel.

Guero by Beck
Jan 17 2026

Easy to listen to, laid back rock and rap, roots and bluesy. Fun

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Feb 01 2026

fun listen reflective of late 60s to early 70s

Peter Gabriel by Peter Gabriel
Feb 18 2026

A lot of experimenting with a sound to distinguish from his time with Grrnsis. The only song from this album that had any melodic consistency was Solisbuty Hill. No wonder it was the only charted song.

Goo by Sonic Youth
Feb 19 2026

Whether by design or a matter of engineering, instruments overwhelm vocals. IMO the instrumental technique is not all that sophisticated. The 90's angst...

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac

Great listen. Fun and skilled. Amazing that they had 3 excellent vocalists for sp many years before pursuing solo careers
