1001 Albums Summary

Difficult to get past how 'U2-esque' the singles and much of the album were. A few highlights where guitar doesn't sound so obvious.

2 albums, obviously but loses something from being too long when trying to listen to both consecutively. Prefer speakerboxx which I wasn't expecting, the love below is trying to do a lot but sometimes feels disjointed.

Fine. So much harmonica, why all the harmonica. Had to listen in multiple parts as became grating quite quickly

A lean 28 minutes! Enjoyable the whole way through with a few less memorable moments. A glimpse of what was to come.

Really strong start that sort of tails off towards the end. Enjoyable enough, liked it more than I thought I would and really enjoyed some of the singles.

Pretty decent, I would probably have appreciated it more if I listened to it in the context it was presumably intended to be enjoyed in.

Can't believe I've never listened to King Crimson before, really good and didn't feel self-indulgent like some other prog albums on the list.

Really well crafted pop songs, love the cardigans but think more of my favourites are on Gran Turismo. Would definitely listen in its entirety again

Didn't dislike it as I thought I would. Obviously a very important album but loses some of its impact when listening to it in the modern day

Listened to fairly frequently of late and I think it holds up as well as it did over twenty years ago when I first listened to it. Love the fact that he sings the hooks instead of having to bring in a host of guests, would probably give five stars if I think about it more

Immediately upon starting the first song I knew I would struggle to get through the album and I was right.

Interesting concept but not my cup of tea. Not a fan of Daltrey's voice in the higher ranges where it sounds strained. Some stand out tracks and funny in parts.

Really good, never listened to the album in it's entirety before and there are some really high highs. A whole hour of Corgan's vocals can start to grate

Brilliant, Melancholy and filled with yearning with excellent production. Dusty's vocal performances have always been some of my favourites and they're on display here. Loved it from start to finish with not a wasted moment

I was so ready to hate this, I went in with such low expectations and enjoyed it a lot. I had to skip sweet child o' mine so I couldn't get an opportunity to change my mind

Enjoyable enough, I wouldn't say there were high highs or low lows and Michael Stipe's voice can become grating after a while.

Actually quite enjoyed the album, though I understand why some reviewers have said it sounds like listening to your mate's band. I think I would listen again if it was easier to stream.

Very enjoyable, Hayes' voice is so smooth and his take on Walk on by is so different, almost unrecognisable. With all the songs being ten minutes long sometimes I found my attention wondering a little towards the end as they were mostly instrumental.
