Good vibes to work to and some real classics in there, last song is for sure a skipper which is a shame.
I didn’t want to like it as much as I did and that’s on having an open mind. Felt super cringe and very high school musical with the anthemic vocals and straight ahead drumming (actually the drums were the major thing I would change across the album).
But overall I felt …. Kinda awesome ???? There’s a reason why he’s an icon I guess. Crazy that he’s Milly Bobby Brown’s father in law.
We really do have to hold on to what we’ve got ❤️
Am I a bad feminist if my favourite song was the one with thom Yorke? Appreciate it for what it is but I think it’s not majorly a relisten for me, maybe my issue is I don’t like New York so an album written as an ode to the city potentially never going to appeal to me? There are moments of real enjoyment and brilliance, but I think there are albums of this genre/period that scratch this particular itch more for me.
Such a good one to wake up to on a sunny Saturday morning. Unfortunately I am an insufferable Beatles enjoyer. Some absolute classics, but still a little bit too early sixties rock n roll for full marks, there was no need for the Mr Postman cover lol.
Beeeaaaauuuutiful !!!! Pleasantly late 80s comforting but with enough substance to feel meaningful. & what a voice !
Hadn’t properly listened to Tracy Chapman beyond the hits and found it such a lovely surprise.
Christ how incredibly long and boring. I hate country music, but not only is it country it’s a SNOOZEFEST. And they’re all covers too? Give me a break. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face was absolutely excruciating, not to mention Personal Jesus and Danny Boy.
I know he was on his deathbed but lighten up mate. No need to wheel out the reanimated corpse for monotonous droning covers of well loved songs.
The Cash and Cohen combo back to back was tough. This one is decent at least, I enjoyed the songs it’s just a pity that Leonard Cohen is singing on all of them and it’s SO loud in the mix. I like most of them but all the songs are just a tad too long. He’s like if Bob Dylan was good. But that’s a LOW bar.
Standard stuff. Quite like the genre, don’t think they did anything particularly interesting with it but solidly played and fairly well enjoyed. Hated the born to be wild cover.
Quite a humorous commute album. I like it - it’s stylish and has some swagger about it. Listened twice and the second time around I properly enjoyed it, particularly Track B and C. Still fairly hard work though and not a go-to like other Mingus albums I think.
YESSS!!! Absolutely incredible her impact on the industry I LOVE THIS ALBUM! Also super fun to get to hunt all the things this album is sampled in. Iconic and timeless.
Yeah I mean I enjoyed it, don’t really see why it was on the list but good old Wrexham band representation.
Nice arrangements and things for a rock album and some classics
What an album, still feels so modern and experimental but also so fun to listen to. Love the doors fr
You’ve trekked across Vienna to the richest district, you buzz through to an old lady’s incredible rich person apartment with views over the whole inner city. You are there to collect an antique wooden chair she has put up on marketplace for €10. You take the chair and walk it across town and on two trams. On these trams you enter and sit on your own antique chair while everyone else sits on the provided tram seats. No one else knows that you can just bring your own chair onto the tram. All the while this album is playing in your ears. Sat on a crowded tram in the standing section on an antique wooden chair you are listening to Ragas and it feels like a performance art piece but just for me. PURE JOY. life is so weird. Anyway, I loved the album this is what I’m doing this for LOLLL it was so funny
I liked it! I’ve always enjoyed the odd Elliott smith song but not listened to full album, sad guy music for sure but there’s a place for that imo
I really wanted to like it but actually just didn’t? Just too heavy on the drum machines for me. Still I appreciate its pioneering and the influence of Prince and new concepts with gender etc.
Kind of easy to tune out like it was fine but not hugely for me. Lots of talent though and I liked the ambience.
Enjoyable and fun, hadn’t listened to this talking heads album but had to others so this was new! Kind of wish it wasn’t David Byrne singing on EVERY song though like sometimes it’s grating sorryyyy
I can’t claim to be a stone roses and primal scream enjoyer without being a Happy Mondays enjoyer. Fun album good vibes, the right amount of adventurous. Funny to think that these are the blokes off gogglebox
I’ll admit I didn’t listen to the entire collectors edition soz
Feels sooooo nostalgic, so many little quirks and references but enough to toe tap to. Slightly melancholy but with enough of a beat to not be dreary. Some recognisable modern classics in there too.
Yeah nice and pleasant I’m just not ever going to be a huge reggae fan in general. But it was good!
Decent but like overall I’m pretty anti foo fighters but I was pleasantly surprised
Wish i had listened to Wu Tang clan before but this was a nice start, really enjoyed
