Neil Young’s 2nd solo album, you can hear his sound starting to expand from his time in Buffalo Springfield and become much more experimental. The track order does a good job spacing out the lengthier songs which kept me engaged. Down by the River is by far the best track on this album. If I had to mark a point when the 70s really began for music, it would be somewhere between this album and the altamont free concert. you can most definitely hear this albums influence not only through the 70s but beyond, which definitely adds to it’s perceived timelessness. This can be confidently cited as the starting point of Neil earning his title as "the godfather of grunge" HOWEVER Neil and Crazy Horse will go on to make much better albums than this.
