1001 Albums Summary

I wanted to like this, but surprisingly found it just to be okay - I did like the first track a lot though.

I enjoyed this - felt similar to Bruce Springsteen to me. Not in love with it, but it was a good album!

I liked the synth vibes of this, would listen again but wouldn't go out of my way - hence 4 stars.

I surprisingly loved this - clever lyrics and great melodies. I can see why it's a classic!

Not my style of music, but I can see the musicality and lyricism would appeal if it was! It is definitely showing it's age though.

I used to really enjoy this album, but was surprised to find that it didn't quite reach as high as I expected. Still good, but not quite at the five star mark this time. I do think other albums of theirs are better.

This was weird, unexpected and genius - I loved it!

Started to listen out of curiousity and didn't enjoy it - not worth continuing given the type of person he has become. I also didn't find the rap that appealing, perhaps spoilt by more complex rap from other rappers/bands.

My husband loved this and I loved this - he's a pretty harsh critic, so 5 it is!

Just didn't really enjoy this - at first it felt okay, but I didn't like the singer which meant the whole thing wasn't for me.

I have no idea why this is in the list - it was nothing special at all, and I really didn't enjoy it.

I was surprised at how many of the songs I recognized - I suspect mainly from TV soundtracks! I enjoyed the musical arrangements for the most part, but the vocals/lyrics were too repetitive for my taste. Didn't finish the album.

I think this genre is just not for me. It was fine, I guess? I got pretty sick of the mumbled lyrics and repetitive music.

This is exactly why I wanted to do this project - I would never have picked this up/discovered this myself, it is so different to my normal listening and the lyrics feel a bit dated and far from my own experiences or views. And yet, I loved this! The samples and mixing was fantastic and I enjoyed every track. Hoping for more surprises like this!
