I hate ACDC, specially the vocals. I read a review that said everything improves if you imagine Toad is the singer and... it kinda works. Music is great but repetitive. Aside from You Shook Me All Night Long it feels like you're listening to the same song.
Formula is pretty simple. I definitely think Angus is the real talent here.
I liked it very much, specially to listen to while working :D
Still, won't be an album I'd buy to own on vinyl, for example.
Nope, not for me, I know a lot of people like this but I dislike the organ, and the dirty old recording studio sound. It's not bad but it's just not for me.
This one was a pleasant surprise, coming from Deep Purple, this was so sweet, calm, relaxing and just... delicious to listen to.
I'm not Usonian so I'm not that familiar with the Jazz movement in the US, the history and the musicians that pushed this genre in the 50's and 60's.
This is a great album.
Nope, I remember everybody was mentioning the Talking Heads when I was a kid. Maybe they even have a song that if i hear it I will remember it being played everywhere back then, but I didn't enjoy listening to this album. I respect their fans but this is just not for me, it's like 80s gregorian chants XD
What a weird thingy over here. I can't say I enjoyed or despise it. But now I know where Fatboy Slim got some samples from!
So I think it's a pretty niche thing. It's nice to listen to but not something I'll add to my frequent rotation.
Thing screams out loud 90s... but in a bad way for my taste. Didn't like it, had to stop listening to it.
I'm sorry soul fans, the music is fantastic but I just can't deal with the sound quality. I understand it's a record from its age, it mortifies me that I can't enjoy music recorded live from before the 80s. And even 80s music live sounds too raw and "amateur" with today's standards. I know there's nothing to be done and this is the way things were back then, but I don't like this sound.
I didn't like this one at all. It's very 90s, meaning I feel in the 90s there were a lot of bands trying this sound that was later catalogued as alternative rock, some of those bands hit the jackpot and the rest sound a lot alike, and that's how this album sounds to me. It could be any alternative rock band from the 90s. It's tryhard.
You must be a very specific kind of person to enjoy Rush. YYZ was a song my music teachers performed on a school presentation. I didn't get it back then, the song is complex and interesting but it's not a song i'd enjoy back then. Then I saw them perform live in Mexico City, it was amazing but after 5 songs I was falling asleep. I didn't know the songs. Tom Sawyer is an aquired taste after many Rock Band sessions. I feel like it's a band you need to listen many times in order to understand why they're so cool. But it's not for casual music listeners.
Yeehaw!!!! I was having a very stressful day at work, played this album on my headphones to stop hearing all the bustle at the office and it took me to country paradise.
It's rare for me to listen to country but when I do, I enjoy it.
Nah, I hated it, I'm sorry, I know Ella is a legend but the first tracks where she doesn't sing put me to sleep, then she picks up and it's cool but idk, the music didn't make it for me.
I hate this album and I hate this band, they're both waaaaay too over rated.
Honestly... MEH!
I also dislike Bob Dylan's voice. He's got a couple of great songs but I've heard them so many times I avoid them.
Interesting but this is not for me, wish we had albums from around the world not just Usonian music culture.
This album starts strong, it also has Yellow which was the first single I heard that made me turn my head to pay attention to Coldplay. But some tracks in the middle are kinda boring.
I can't believe it's been almost 30 years since this came out!
I thought I'd hate this album just by it's cover. Turns out it sounds pretty 90s but after a few tracks it's not interesting to me. It's like the album just turns into a flat background thing to listen to.
Interesting, great bass lines.
Cool thing about this album is that, if you don't see anything or know anything about the Minutemen, it would be hard to pin what decade is their music from.
They sound funky, they sound rock, they sound grunge... it's quite an experience.
PJ's like Alanis Morissette meets Elastica meets Pearl Jam, this was awesome! Best album that has showed up for me on this website.
I would write a review, but you don't need it, this is David Bowie baby!
Guess you'd have a different opinion if you're a Usonian, for the rest of the world... this is just another Beatles wannabe band. Sometimes it sounds like a Beachboys thing but it really didn't do it for me.
Kinda boring.
This one was perfect to listen to while working today. I was not excited about it being a rap album at first but it has interesting twists. Pretty relaxing.
I hate the background noise in old recordings. And I firmly believe you need to be a fan in order to love a LIVE album. But god damn it! BB is really the King. I was hating the sound when I started listening to this album and got hooked during the first 20 secs.
Entranced by the first guitar solo and enjoyed the rest of the ride.
F*ck it, this is 5 stars already, one of the best albums Paul McCartney recorded, I freakin' love it, I've listened to it countless times!
RHCP are 5 stars automatically, Flea's bass lines are so funky and relaxing at the same time. Great album. I got bored with the last two tracks, sorry, 4 stars.
This thing is just weird AF hahaha.
Not something i'd buy or listen to again.
But not bad, it has strange sounds all over, panning, then there's this like punk voice shouting... not terrible but not a fan.
