First half of the album was phenomenal. Second half still enjoyable but never reaches the level of the first again.
I was very happy with the sound of this album. The bass is incredible and Morrisey is very convincing while conveying a story/topic. Like I just said, the topics on this album are great and well thought out e.g Barbarism Begins At Home. Meat Is Murder does a very good job at freaking me out (which i think was the band's objective) but is a pretty bad song and definitely skip-worthy.
Instruments were great, but the vocals were not hitting for me, brings the rating down quite a lot. It was kind of proggy, and I love prog, but the singer was really getting in the way of my full enjoyment of this album. Could've been amazing, but it fell short.
Some very catchy songs, others that I don't really care for but aren't necessarily bad. My favourite part of the album us the harmonising vocals, those are amazing.
Looking at the cover, I was expecting a deeper and vulnerable Eminem. I was wrong (with the exception of Stan), and I don't know why I'd even think that. Undeniably, his lyrics and his flow are masterclass but the music itself and what sings about doesn't really appeal to me. Stan is really good though. And Kim is one of the worst songs ive ever heard.
What i like most about this album is that the songs are relaxing and easy to listen to. I had a lot of fun with many of the songs. The problem with this album is that nothing particularly stands out, but I think even the band knew this, because it seems like they've made it tame on purpose, and it kind of works. Cool stuff.
Its definitely an album that takes itself very seriously. It gets you sucked into all of these songs and their 'feels'. I really like all the different sounds in this album that Radiohead pulls off, like electronic on Idioteque or ambience on Treefingers. Optimistic impressed me a lot. This is not Radiohead's best album, so maybe the reason I gave it 4 stars is that I know they have better.
A masterpiece in my eyes. This has some of the most epic and atmospheric metal songs to ever do it. Prowler is one the best album beginners ever. The transition from Transylvania to Strange World is one of the only moments in music that, to this day, can still give me goosebumps. Some may argue (even the band itself) that the production brings the quality of the album down, but it doesn't phase me, and the music itself more than makes up for it. It's got a reckless vibe to it. Running Free is definitely the weakest on the album, but its still a great song. Just goes to show how good this album is.
There is some really cool synth on here. Some of the songs I already knew so it felt quite nostalgic to hear them again. Some songs I dont really care for however, like I Am The Law.
Great songs, great vocals, great songwriting, great riffs, great everything. Lazy is a phenomenal song that blew me away.
Her voice is really good and there is some really good songwriting here. I can imagine there's a lot more appeal to someone else rather than me. Enjoyable.
There were a lot of good songs but also a lot of forgettable ones too. Nothing bad about the album though.
You know whats worse than a bad album? A super boring album with no substance whatsoever. At least you can kind of laugh at a bad album, but i was just praying for this album to be over. Every song is a nothing burger and is way too long. The song Emma had some potensial, but even that song suffered from the same problems, not to mention the vocals sound like theyre supposed to be deep, but it just sounds forced.
A really chilled, but also interesting jazz album. I love long songs, so I was very happy with all of them. The vocals were great and Mistake played live sounded like it was being played in a studio. Amazing.
Phenomenal. I feel stupid and very illiterate for not understanding the message being sent but the music and the flow of songs is incredible.
