1001 Albums Summary

Classic album. A rare album where the singles are the skips due to being played endlessly in our day to day.

As someone who missed the release of this album by 12 years it’s relevance has only until now been its pop Culture staying power. However the guitar sound had to have been pretty powerful at the time. A respectable debut album in spite of its very “of the time” lyrics.

Radiohead is to Chemical Brothers as recreational hallucinogens in a field is to crank and molly in a mud puddle. In the BEST possible way. Great music to crank out 6+ miles on a treadmill and act as you are the driving cog.

As someone who only discovered The Cure in my 30s. The The has almost entirely stayed off my radar until this play through. “This is the day” either has shown up in enough pop culture that o have consumed over the year to be recognizable or it’s one of those songs that plays in the background of your life without you knowing. Either way, a truly enjoyable album. While lyrically at times it tries to claw you down into its own sadness, the production is bright and eager. I really likes this album.

If this album would have been introduced to me in my 20s I would have had it in heavy car rotation. It’s a bit too upbeat for anyone with children’s and a mortgage, but that’s not the albums fault. A fun listen.

Full of classics and the tracks between are good as well

Good rainy day album. Only familiar with primarily the chart hits of the cure, this was an enjoyable listen.

It’s fine. I smoked weed in high school so Sweet Emotion has some nostalgia qualities. People who call this a great album are eligible for Medicare.

The production feels almost too clean for a blues album from 1977. It’s undoubtedly A classic, and honestly sounds great. Call me a fucking idiot though, because I like my blues recorded on two tin cans attached by a string. Also, it’s a shame that Mannish Boy was the OG blues meme.

A perfect example of a five star album. Although Justin Townes Earl’s cover of the title track is immaculate
