Just good old classic rock and roll, easy listen. Like classic AC/DC but not entirely overplayed. Not a lot of variety across the album but that's not a bad thing
3 songs in, I don't get it. Very much a sign of the 90s, a bunch of weird homemade beats using "unconventional" instruments, vocals put me to sleep. Seems like it would be a soundtrack to an indie movie or something very slow paced. 6 songs in, still don't get it, the songs all seem too long, an extra 30 seconds of just listening to the beat even though the beats are mid at best. You almost had me on the song "Roads" it had a little more weight to it, then to turn around and put me back to sleep with the next track. None of the songs really stand out, they all kind of sound the same. End of album finish is fine, but overall just not my thing, probably not something I will return to.
The definition of "easy listening", sounds like something you'd hear playing on loop at a JC Pennys. Objectively good music, just a little too easy and low energy in my opinion. No songs really stand out from the rest, if you like one song you'd likely like all of them. It does remind me of a female version of John Mayer's vocals and music style, minus Mayer's guitar skills. overall decent, but I will probably not seek this one out again
Going into this one, I think I only know the song "Gimme Shelter" which is an absolute classic. Past that, I am just not a huge fan of Mick Jagger's vocals, the songs that rely on his singing too heavily generally fall flat for me. The songs that rely heavier on instrumentation however are much better, fun, upbeat, enjoyable. Overall, a classic album for a reason, great representation of the Stones, probably will be in the rotation in the future.
For such a long album, it does not get stale. I went into this very much a fan of Fleetwood Mac, but I did not know any songs off of this album. The fact that they can rely on so many different vocalists is really a delight. "Sara" and "Sisters of the Moon" really stood out to me, this makes me want to listen to all of their discography and discover what else I am missing. I am guessing they have albums I would enjoy even more than this one.
Absolutely have never heard of Bjork before, not even a clue as to the genre this will be going in. 1 song in, and I can't explain why but its kind of a vibe, kinda fun to listen to. The vocal range is impressive that's for certain. I had a lot of fun listening to this album, which is strange becuase this is definitely not the type of genre I gravitate towards. I may honestly seek out more music by this artist.
Going into this, there is only one song I know by Dexys Midnight Runners, and it is the obvious one. I don't believe I've ever even heard of another song of theirs, but Come on Eileen is definitely a guilty pleasure type of song for me so my expectations are reasonably high. about halfway through and my expectations have been met, it is a lot more music of the same style, very upbeat and fun. The lead singer's voice is so unique, for better or worse. I get similar vibes to Electric Light Orchestra and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and that is a compliment. No song stands out as much as Come on Eileen, but if you are a fan of that one, then you'll enjoy the rest of the album.
Excited for this one. Crazy because I was literally listening to songs off of this album on my drive to work. Going into this, I obviously love the songs "Take it Easy" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling", and I am hoping for more of that style. The fact that this is the Eagles first album they released is impressive to say the least. After finishing this album I immediately want to relisten to it, it is so enjoyable. There's a reason the Eagles made such an impact and after listening to this it makes perfect sense. Easy 5/5 for me.
I do not know a lot of David Bowie, I always liked the hits but other than that I never listened to much, or any for that matter, of his other music. Looking at this album, only 6 tracks that are all pretty lengthy, I am not sure what to expect but I have an open mind and am willing to give it a shot.
Its a slow start for sure, the opening track being over 10 minutes. David Bowie definitely has a signature "Bravado" about him, at times can seem pretentious. I can see why people like him, but for me the over the top vocals just don't hit me like other vocalists. Best way I can explain it is as if I was singing the song at karaoke but in a sarcastic/fake/funny way, the type of singing where you'd say "okay stop messing around and sing for real". I kind of enjoyed the album, but really with only 6 tracks I probably won't be returning to this one anytime soon, hopefully the other Bowie albums coming up will change my mind about him because this one didn't. 3/5
Listening to this was not what I expected. Very slow and bluesy type of music, soft female vocal, sounds like something you'd hear in the background at a biker bar or a jazz type club where people sip on martinis and watch a slow band on stage. Its not bad, not my kind of thing, and I don't see myself seeking out anymore of this artist or this type of music. Low energy, nothing jumps out at me, kind of makes me sleepy, kind of also makes me want to throw on a leather jacket, ride my chopper to a dive bar and sit alone over a glass of whiskey. It is what it is.
First song in, this is just Weezer, you can't convince me otherwise. Different singer but this is the same music that Weezer makes. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, I like Weezer, but we'll see if this album actually does anything special after track 1.
Track 2: What am I listening to? 1 minute of garbled guitar noises, 20 seconds of a guitar riff, and that counts as a song?
Track 3: Okay maybe I am starting to get it? Not bad, kind of a slower ballad, but really nothing that stands out... I think the songs are just too slow so far to really keep me engaged
Track 4: Same stuff, really just doesn't grab me, I can't explain why. Also, holy repeating lyrics, I can't get behind repeating the song name 30 times in a row and calling it a chorus.
Really no notes for the rest of the album, it was fine but I'm left feeling unimpressed and ready to move on from this one.
Overall, I don't know why I would listen to this over any other more popular group in the genre, nothing special about it.
Okay, I cannot put my finger on it but starting this album I really am liking the sound. I have not listened to Arcade Fire before, but I like the energy and overall tone. The first track moves into kind of a haunting tone while maintaining good pace, the thumping of the drum in the background, the vocals similar to like an "Arctic Monkeys" type. Gotta love the smooth transition to track 2. Yep this album is definitely a vibe. About halfway through the album, I am still very actively listening, I enjoy the overall tone and style, the vocals have intent behind them. I am a fan of Arcade Fire now, will definitely revisit the album in the future.
