i don't think i had ever listened to Booker T. & The MG's before. I do like to listen to songs without lyrics but they should be strongly instrumental. This album was very very dull for me. The only song i see myself maybe listening to again is Stranger on the Shore, solely because it had a guitar solo. Maybe this was extraordinary in the 60's and i get that but not my cup of tea, darling.
got bored
genius album. i love it.
even though i'm not a 60's lover, this album was very fun to listen to. it is cute and energetic, in a 60's way of course. i enjoyed most of the songs and would definitely add them to my playlists.
i think qotsa is an amazing debut album with the sickest guitar riffs. 90's alternative rock bands... i love u...
i loove the cure!! i really enjoyed listening to this album from start to finish. gloomy, feely, gothic, beautiful...
i procrastinated listening to this album for weeks after hearing the first track. there's nothing i like about any of the songs in this album. idc if this is harsh. weird music.
not my prefered genre nor my fav album of sade but SADE ADU THE WOMAN YOU ARE!!!! lemme feel that voice range!! SING ITT!!!!!
i had somewhat a little hope while listening to the first track on the album, then the lyrcisim and the notes got repetitive and very lazy so quickly. then these mfs started singing about wanting to make a "little girl" who went through "18 years of pain" theirs. weird and disturbing. the rest of the album was boring too. also, i'm not an expert on blues but this cannot be proper blues, right? 60's music never surprises.
this album isn't even on spotify. i tried to listen to it on youtube and after 6 minutes i was like ''am i still on the same song??'' i was indeed still on the same song. it's 12 minutes. another song on the album is 16. there were no rises, no build up. i feel like the singing pace doesn't match the harps and the instruments very well either. very dull but rushed at the same time. it's very indie folk. yes her voice could be considered ethereal but the album was very boring for me. couldn't finish it. i like the cover tho.
i tried listening to this twice. Both times i got hella bored. The backing tracks are sooo generic and extremely repetitive to the point that it starts sounding like nails on a chalkboard. i know it's ''wu tang clan'' and ''badass'' and ''very gangstaaa'', but no i couldn't bring myself to finish the album. and i really wanted to like it. shame.
i've never understood the love for gangster hiphop. noting that i didn't finish listening to the entire album, i guess it was a lil catchier than the other hiphop albums i've heard so far? not my style though. bye byeee women beater!!!
solid 90's rock album. no complaints. would occasionally listen to it.
it was a bit too country for my taste. frankly, i wanted to rip my ears off while listening to ''you gotta move''. there were solid songs on the album so i'm not gonna hate. classic 70's rock album. it was fine but three stars seem generous.
when i saw the ''blues explosion'' i didn't assume i would hear this much punk. there are so many songs on the album so i couldn't listen to all of them. but the ones i listened to, were they extraordinary? no. were they fun? yes. i respect anyone who did rock/metal/punk in the 90's so i say today's discovery was well received even though i gave 2 stars.
i was sooo happy to have gotten this album. rip chester... i love linkin park, i love hybrid theory, i love how they executed their genre. you can call me a basic btch or a poser all you want but my top 3 are: In the end, crawling and runaway. honorable mention to papercut. the only reason i gave 4/5 is because i can't decide if my favorite album of theirs is hybrid theory, meteora or minutes to midnight.
the glam-rock/synth-pop blend is very easy to spot. i can say the mixture was well done even though i only enjoyed listening to Fall In Love With Me. I would have liked Other Side Of Life much more if it had a pink floyd-like guitar solo at the end. the other songs were not as catchy nor funky but 1 star would be unfair and hypocritical to the potential Other Side Of Life has and to how much i enjoyed Fall In Love With Me.
i absolutely adore jeff buckley and his style. the fact that this is the only album he was able to release before losing his life kinda proves to me how phenomenal his work is. i love the amount of yearning and desperation his music gives. if i'm being honest there are a few songs i always skip whenever i listen to Grace. Given that it's a bit biased and subjective of me to give it 5/5 but isn't music subjective itself? So objectively 4/5, but in my heart it's one of the best albums created hence the 5 stars.
i guess i didn't not like it but it wasn't anything special.
FEEL THE BEAT FROM THE TAMBOURINE... then again, it is very much just 70's disco pop. abba's best songs are all from different albums. so i would feel weird rating this 3-4 stars. also meryl streep sang money money money better.
i really couldn't tell if the song was over and the next song was playing or not. The riffs are pretty repetitive but this applies to oasis' entire discography. frankly, i listen to oasis when i need an energetic background music. i find it hard to stay focused throughout an entire song let alone an album. but they're an iconic example of brit pop-rock i guess.
i can agree that it's soothing but isn't it bit overdone? overdone for 41 mins and 35 secs to be exact. the ''soothing'' harmonies are pretty similar every song. i guess they were trying to create alliteration in their lyrics but r2d2 forms more understandable sentences. Pra-da-da-dee, Peep hole. haha this isn't r2, it's an actual verse from this album haha :/ anyways, i didn't hate it but i'm not sure it's an album i ''must hear'' before i die. i would have given it 1.5/5 but since you can't do halves here, i'm gonna round it down to 1. 2 would be too much.
i listened to like 4 minutes of the first track and that is an accomplishment because why and how is anyone listening to one song for 20 minutes? anyways i like rock when it's progressive but i can't stand that constant high pitched singing. i liked the riffs and solos. i like the album in general but it didn't leave that much impression tbh.
