actually a baller random pick for the first album in my project, long overdue foray into hiphop for me solid 3 since about half the album hit well but some tracks got boring fast and the work goes on a bit longer than it needs to. also not a fan of the multiple tracks that just disparage women lmfao

...And Justice For All by Metallica

nailing this as my second album when i've just recently in the past couple days been listening to more metallica ?!?!

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder

oh so that's why they call it Soul i actually only saved 4 songs from this album but it's perfect background listening. singlehandedly got me through a horridly humid morning walk lol

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz

"The Girl From Ipanema" is an all-time classic for a reason, but like other reviewers have commented this one is nice for background music but blends into that background a little too easily. it just doesn't hold my attention enough for active listening; tracks melted into each other and not in a positive way, started feeling like one big way-too-long song around #3 (and i'm very pro-longsong if done well). objectively a great jazzy bossa nova record, subjectively not my cup of tea. i was already waiting for it to be over about halfway through.

We Are Family by Sister Sledge

wanted to like this more than i did :( perfectly Fine disco album

KE*A*H** (Psalm 69) by Ministry

i was ready to like this one out of spite of several reviews (especially that annoying christian in the top) but it really did end up boring </3 like not terrible, i can see situations where it would fit as background music, but man i could just be tired but this was a slog. the 'repetitive' complaints are correct

probably pretty good jazz if you have the ear for jazz that i don't have. there's a handful of enjoyable parts but the tracks' lengths make trudging through less engaging sections for those parts less worth it for future replays. hit the 'meh' button!

The Sounds Of India by Ravi Shankar
Jun 03 2026

wonderful podcast episode /j really though, this was an unexpectedly welcome change from a straightforward album. i dont think its anything i would put on for casual listening but it's a lovely combination of relaxing instrumental and informational experience. i have new appreciation for the sitar

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jun 04 2026

an album of ups and downs. im not one to pay much attention to lyrics unless they're exceptionally good or exceptionally bad (in this album: Black Hair), but i think a lot of the reviews complaining about this album's somber mood are overblown. that or im just already accustomed to a good dreary song. the environment you listen in is really gonna make or break your experience with this one; i had it on during a quiet, peaceful evening of some computer work by myself in low light, so i had a great time with it. though there are still some pretty low points here (Green Eyes is... interesting, and Black Hair is black hair black hair black hair) but i appreciated this one overall
