1001 Albums Summary

First half was great. The rest just didn't have the same strong evocative feelings that Stevie usually gives. I can see why this is the weakest of his classic period

I don't want to cast doubt that I think this was bad. Just not my style. I know for the time it was released it pushed the envelope and Fats is one of the great Fathers of RnR. I'm just more of a Lil Richard kinda guy

This album was an absolute travesty. The falsetto vocals on every song lacked emotion and the lyrical content was bland and meandering. Sonically everything sounded as if it was some soulless pop rock garbage that was repetitive and uninspired. Lots of members in this band for not a lot to be going on in the music.

David byrnes fanatical ramblings over some high energy synth wave rock was a great time. Not necessarily coherent but definitely one of a kind and laid the ground work for him to be one of the most influential musicians of his time.

Jack and Meg are probably the best duo to come out of rock music in this era. Nothing on this album sounds extraordinary or "special". It's just good regardless. Technical skill and the ability to produce a range of sounds is paired with great album structure and the ability to create songs that make you feel good while also sounding good.

An absolute masterclass in folk music. Hearing Nick Drakes somber vocals in a more upbeat pitch with beautiful lyrics that reveals Nick's view of the world to us. Phenomenal.

When I think of indie sleaze I think of the Strokes.

Personally not my style. Very creative and unique with the fusion of hardcore and reggae elements. If you're a hardcore fan I could see this meaning a lot to you.

While I personally enjoy Marvin more in his self produced era this album is a beautiful representation of his ability to ask hard questions and lead with love. He always cuts straight into social topics and does so with beautiful vocals and incredibly strong instrumentation.

I loved Firehose's first album Raging full on. This one not so much. Lackluster and derivative. Nothing too exceptional here

Something that I just don't understand. It's raw and full of truth just not enjoyable to me.

Big band players crushing it.

Not quite as good as their first album but the ethereal dream wave synth pop sound is incredible.

Very weird selection for the list. Not very memorable. Very boring.

Some great songs and some very over the top songs.

What a fucking travesty. This album plays on some sort of nostalgia that does not exist. It is uninspired. It is boring. And it is just playing bad. Neil may have been prolific but the magic does not last forever I suppose.

Absolute banger from front to back. The samples and beats hit hard, the lyrical content is sharp, and the energy of the album is nonstop start to finish. One of the best pieces of art dissecting the america we live in that seems to be truer every single day.

Something about Neil Young that I just don't get. The slow somber folksy singing about life's woe's just does not appeal to me. Nor does it seem groundbreaking

Absolute powerhouse of a hip hop duo

While I expected a dud I was pleasantly surprised in what I heard. Older folksy country but fast paced enough to keep your attention.

Edgy middle schooler music. Some good songs that somehow are relatable despite the delivery.

One of the best hip hop albums of all time.
