War by U2

Overjoyed to see this one come up and revisit the early days of U2. A bit more rough and raw with the passion that made them what they are. Coincided with seeing a tribute band playing their songs and Sunday Bloody Sunday and New Years Day live. Brilliant rock

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Jul 09 2026

Excellent musicians, transported from the first chords across the Atlantic to Cuba.

Jul 10 2026

I never got the hype for Oasis but I appreciated the contribution their music brought to the culture of the time and enjoy guitar bands. Looking at the track listing, it was full of the hits I knew but listening filled a couple of gaps and I heard the familiar tunes in the intended running order. A good listen.

Jul 13 2026

Have not been a fan of REM ever. Album was great musically but did not elevate their position in my favoured music. Listened while running, passed the time but did not inspire me. Despite their considerable talent, the tracks sound the same to me. So sorry.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Jul 14 2026

I doubt I’ll listen to The Pixies again. Just not my scene although I’m appreciative of anyone that commits to getting coherent sound out of instruments.

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Jul 16 2026

Enjoyed this. Great rhythms and harmonies. Love music that takes you on a journey not just the music but through interest in the musicians background. I ended up with new music and new understanding about life around the world.

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Jul 20 2026

Dependable guitar riffs and rhythms with just about the right level of passion and tone. Enjoyable listen.

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Jul 21 2026

I guess this is one of the best introductions to blues that I am going to get. Have heard the name B.B. King practically all my life but never really listened to his music. Atmospheric of the clubs back in the 60’s where this music will have been enjoyed and it strikes me that I might not have accessed it live easily at that time. Tight band and singing lead guitar, giving us an education in love through the lyrics.

Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart
Jul 22 2026

Unexpected enjoyment. Great storytelling and humble, classic musicianship before all the madness of being asked if you think he’s sexy.

Brothers by The Black Keys
Jul 23 2026

Steady, guitar led melodies and recognisable vocals. Good to hear some bass leads. Good intro to the band.

Bossanova by Pixies
Jul 24 2026

Aagh, I didn’t enjoy my last Pixies album so was deflated when I saw this come up. I have respect for their craft and their chosen genre of that’s their style, it’s just not really for me. I wouldn’t turn it off, it was ok in the background but I wouldn’t choose to put it on.

War by U2
Jul 27 2026

Overjoyed to see this one come up and revisit the early days of U2. A bit more rough and raw with the passion that made them what they are. Coincided with seeing a tribute band playing their songs and Sunday Bloody Sunday and New Years Day live. Brilliant rock

Different Class by Pulp
Jul 28 2026

Enjoyed the storytelling of relatable life of a generation. Good album

OK Computer by Radiohead
Jul 29 2026

I was prepared to not enjoy this as I have found some Radiohead a bit dreary. True some of the vocal runs still feel a little whiny to my ears BUT I liked the album and the tracks not commercially released had a lot of complexity and depth of sound I didn’t expect. A welcome surprise.

Larks' Tongues In Aspic by King Crimson
Jul 30 2026

Not for me. I’m sure the talented musicians had a great jam putting this together but I found the self-indulgence boring.

Armed Forces by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jul 31 2026

Done for background music and new some of the tracks. Wouldn’t pick it out to put it on but an easy listen.

Aug 03 2026

I’m not a Dylan fan but was pleasantly surprised how this album meandered along and I settled into the tunes. The harmonica makes it for me. Still find his tone a little grating but overall ok.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Aug 04 2026

I tried. I really tried but this just didn’t offer anything for me. Appreciated their efforts being musicians and being confident in their own style but doubt I will ever listen to any of these tracks again.

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Aug 05 2026

It got me round a 30 minute run, it won’t be on the regular playlist but was ok.

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Aug 06 2026

I’ve never been caught in the hype of ‘The Boss’ but the album had some great tracks. Factory really caught me, sure the work ethic and outcome was something many could relate to.

The Good, The Bad & The Queen by The Good, The Bad & The Queen
Aug 07 2026

This is a great find. Never knew this Albarn led collaboration existed. Enjoyable twists from a great group of musicians with a little bit of Albarn magic.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Aug 10 2026

Another guitar band that should be right up my alley and they were good but didn’t set me alight wanting more. Will give another album a go.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Aug 11 2026

I didn’t think I knew the Dave Brubeck Quartet and I am not a jazz fan but Take Five was instantly recognisable. It hasn’t made me want to listen to more jazz but was a reasonable background play while working.

Aug 12 2026

Love this quirky band. Such a range of instruments and rhythms with great melodies and little flourishes for their very own style. Also great live.

Aug 13 2026

I’ve only ever known the commercial releases for Prodigy but liked them. The album uses some creative sounds within the music and brings the energy on every track. This whole album will get a regular place on my running playlist.

Parachutes by Coldplay
Aug 14 2026

I loved this as soon as I heard it. Was recommending it to friends assuring them they’d be big one day. Many found the tracks a little druggy but this was the emotional beginning for me. I’m not a super fan and not got the hype sometimes but I enjoy their musical style in the main and this is an album I enjoyed end to end even when I didn’t know anything about them.

Low by David Bowie
Aug 17 2026

The highlight of this is Sound and Vision and on first listen the rest of the album doesn’t really measure up. What the album does is give an insight to the musical exploration and creativity that would normally be behind closed doors. It feels like we’ve been let in to an early jam session. It doesn’t have nearly enough vocal but also shows some of the versatility of Bowie voice and mind that isn’t always obvious in some of the commercial hits. It takes a bit of patience but for an insight on the process behind Bowie characters and hits this is unique.

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Aug 18 2026

I read reviews filled with nostalgia and was waiting for great vibes but I found this a little boring. I’m worried I’m becoming musically numb!

Red Dirt Girl by Emmylou Harris
Aug 19 2026

I love country but this album didn’t grab me. Emmylou is a country icon but I found it sedate.
