It was fine for a Beatles album. Idk if I love how each song is just one idea for 2 minutes, but when I appreciate that as the genre I like the album a lot more

Great listen. Distinctive Bowie vibes and a bunch of repeat value. Changes itself is fantastic to have around, and i don’t think any other songs met that moment but still stayed strong. The Bewlay Brothers was a pleasantly strong ending track too - though I wasn’t in love with the end of the song

For what I know The Rolling Stones to be capable of I was disappointed by the majority of this album. Lowkey felt like “how many ways can we play the blues in an hour,” and don’t get me wrong I love the blues. I additionally loved the flow between songs - the transitions and theme were a great part of the project
This collection of songs would make great background music but in an album of over an hour I don’t feel like I should only have 3-4 songs that stand out to me, and that’s while I’m looking for a song to stand out. But overall fun listen.

I made the mistake of listening to the 2009 remaster with "evil woman" and not "sleeping village/warning" - once we adjusted for that this shit got way better.
This album is a damn good album head to toe. If I could give decimal values it would be a 4.6, and now I’m faced with the choice of rounding up or truncating. And you know what fuck it i'm gonna do it. 4 of the songs have landed in my regular rotation, and I would say there's not even really a skipper on the album for me.
The drums were so good and that deserves its own paragraph.
Black Sabbath: 2 great grooves with a great transition. This one doesn’t quite make the regular rotation for me because the payoff is kind of late.
The Wizard: I’d never heard this one before but it’s super fun. Here’s a metal song with a harmonica solo. Nails. My 2nd fav on the album
Behind the Wall of Sleep: great intro, great rhythm. The verse melody kind of reminds me of War Pigs which is funny to me.
NIB: the most popular song on the album for a reason. This song is classic Black Sabbath to me, heavy hitting riff with punchy lyrics following that rhythm.
Wicked world: this was one of my fav sabbath songs before this album and it stays my favorite on the album. Tempo changes are awesome, every rhythm is also great
Sleeping Village/Warning - actually the least impressive track to me, but was a very fun journey and I think that the jam was a good finale to the project.
Listening to this on YouTube wasn’t my favorite but I liked this one. I feel like grunge is the word I’d use to describe it. I was a big fan of most of the songs having relatively fluid transitions, and the general vibe was very comforting.
A lot of the songs had a “not so memorable” problem for me that makes this good not great to me. I do think the album started, finished, and middled strong - so I commend mbv for the selection and organization of these tracks.
I am also bummed it’s not on Spotify bc When You Sleep and I Only Said would both definitely make regular rotation for me.

This album was another fine one for me. This is one of the first R&B albums I’ve listened to where I really felt the blues which is cool. Also kind of trailed off but still head nodding the whole time.

I had to listen to the shortened version and I leave it at a 3 because my reaction to the music leans me towards 4 or 5, but the fact it’s such a slog to gets for pulls me to a 2. These songs are so damn good. The solos, the jams, the organ, the drum solo. Everything about the album is just great performance after great performance.
If I was at this show I would be losing my god damn mind. But it just doesn’t translate well to an album experience.

Another damn good album. I’d never listened to much Santana so this was super fun. The Spanish rhythms mixed with rock and roll was a genre that was both familiar and its own in a super fun way. Also another album where the organ is so freaking good. The run from Black Magic Woman to Hope You’re Better Now was just non-stop greatness.
9/10 would’ve been 9.5/10 if the last song was stronger (or even just not there?)

This was a fine head nodding listen with no real memorable tracks. In light of the allegations Joey showed in the discord it has to drop from truly mid down to a disappointment
This album was really good. I liked the experimental/weird nature of a lot of the songs, and I liked the skits and that the skit played well into the next song. I also liked the consistency of the Slim Shady character throughout the project.
I wish there had been more of a through-line story given the album took breaks for a skit every 2-4 songs, and I don't know that this album had any resounding bangers save "My Name Is."
Every time Eminem works it's a solid piece though. I really enjoyed Guilty Conscience and Bad meets Evil with the spoken exposition, but that also takes them out of songs I'd throw on my playlists.

I really liked this one as a thematic collection of songs. I think the flow of it left some semblance of a story, but as a whole the songs were good-to-mid. Every time I listen to a Beatles album I’m left with this thought that nobody would care about this today.
The horns were really fun, the bass was really fun, a dramatically better musical performance than the other Beatles album we listened to.

This album is a banger. It has some of the strongest highs we’ve listened to so far. 2 of a bands best 3 songs being back to back as are Money for Nothing into Walk of Life is incredible. I expected the rest of the album to fall short - which granted it did but how do you top Everest twice. However, Your Latest Trick and was a welcome change of pace that did not disappoint lyrically, and Ride Across the River, The Mans Too Strong, and One World was a super strong pre-ending. Brothers in Arms I do believe ended up being the strongest of the slow songs to send us off in a sensational jam.
Why Worry was I think a “fine” song for me. Not disappointing in any way, not standing out to me in any way, but was pleasant and didn’t take me out of the album. So Far Away was personally a let down as the album opener, an incredible groove with a knock by just being lame on the lyrics. But it almost gets some grace because I can pretend the album started with Money for Nothing.
However on the relisten of those two songs my feelings have softened on everything except the lyrics of So Far Away so this shall be a 9/10

I’ve never heard of this artist before but this album was definitely a 90s hip hop album worth a listen to before I die. Was not expecting to recognize intro but that’s a fun surprise. This was an incredible lowkey vibe and a super enjoyable listen. I was disappointed lyrically and a little bit in the mix. In my opinion, every song in the album was good but no song was great, which is why it doesn’t break ahead.

Great jazz, whatever album. If I was at a cocktail bar with my girl dressed up nice with a drink and some tasting plates this would be a 5 star experience immediately. But I was driving home from work and then in my kitchen cooking dinner.
The good: super dynamic instrumentation. These guys are super talented and I’m a huge fan of how the bass and piano were the lead and rhythm in different parts of the album. The mix was great, the crowd noise as ambiance was great, and it was very comfortable to listen to.
The bad: all the songs kinda blended together and nothing stood out. It’s just not a piece of work I would necessarily come back to, and there are instrumental jazz pieces in my playlists so I know it’s not just the genre.
Overall a pleasant listen and it would be great as parlor music when I’m hanging out in a lowkey setting, just nothing to write home about
Maybe it's because she just died but this album was sad right off rip. Very good feeling album - very good folk/country album. I felt like there was a lot of gospel influence that made a lot of the moments very powerful. She's also very funny. I thought Traveling Man and She's Never Met a Man were hilarious.
For a very short album I was very happy with what I got, didn't feel like anything was missing, and was entertained the entire time.
If I were to have any knock on the album it would be that the best songs are all at the front - the first 3 songs were 3 of my favorite 4 on the album, with Here I Am also being a strong player.

This lady has pipes. Phenomenal voice, phenomenal talent, I was blown away by her ability, and less blown away by her music. The songs were all good, but I wasn’t a fan of how almost every song had this slow section with belting lyrics and the choir. Like they were epic but your whole album shouldn’t be epic moments.

This album was super impressive musically. I did not feel bored or like the album was repeating itself at all. Really liked the flows with the voice as an instrument, and of course the band was crushing. Only thing that fell short for me was lyrical content, I thought I was a little plain at time.

We open with a song that literally just the beat and nothing else for like 5 minutes straight which is fine but I’d never listen to that again. Oh the second song was the same way. The beats are groovy at least but it’s just not an enjoyable listen when you get the gist of a song in 30 seconds and nothing develops. Oh it’s every song. I mean the beats aren’t terrible but imo they’re terrible songs because there’s nothing else there - I was getting bored during almost every song
