Wow, surprisingly good right off the bat (writing this right as the first song finishes). I awas going into this remembering the brothers´s braggado and unlikability. But their self-esteem translates quite well into these rock anthems. I can see why they gained their status and became the fave band of so many people. I´m glad this has been suggested to me! Some really standout tracks, but I don´t think I´ll be running to relisten that soon.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Aug 14 2026

What the helly? I´d be so surprised if the very first song was NOT the main inspo for King Gizzard´s Altered Beast suite! ok, this is jazzy and way happier than King Gizz´s album titled Murder of the Universe, but really, this is how we start a 67 y. old jazz album? You´ve got me hooked and I feel enlightened! oh and Take Five is from this very album? nice! I instantly knew the melody! Overall an enjoyable album, where I could really appreciate the artistry, though, at times leaning towards "background music".

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Aug 17 2026

(I somehow lost the notes that I'd made prior to listening to the album - but I complimented the album cover! it had really sparked my curiosity! I was keen to listen!) but yeah, I think after listening to the album I'll only keep liking the cover. So so so good! I wish I liked the music more - and don't get me wrong, I've always been drawn to Miles based on his genre and his legacy / reputation, but these 2 tracks were putting me to sleep on my Friday afternoon ride from Bratislava to Žilina (and the traffic jam which made it 30-40 minutes longer certainly didn't help). So, not a perfect setting - and Phoebe Bridgers put out an album which is really tough to follow. But I sat through it. And I wouldn't mind putting it on in a café, I'd even go as far to say I'd love it then! I'm grateful for "having to listen to this" and for the opportunity given to me by 1001albums, thank you.

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
Aug 18 2026

I have literally 0 expectations going into this album - but the cover is really good regardless of genre, it´s genuinely a good painting! Yeah, upon listening, this genre honestly isn´t for me. I´m sorry, Dolly sang her lungs out, but the genre itself just doesn´t interest me. I wouldn´t mind it in a movie or something, but that´s about it. I won´t revisit this, sorry.

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Aug 19 2026

Actually the reviews below made me a little worried, but this turned out to be quite an enjoyable listen on my drive home! I´ll remember him for the longer jams, some of these were right up my alley.

Melodrama by Lorde
Aug 20 2026

Such a change of vibe after Neil Young, Miles Davis, Dolly Parton and David Brubeck! I think it´s my bad for "having to listen to Melodrama just now, through the 1001albumsgenerator, for the 1st time!" Hey, better late than never. I´ve started to realize I´m even a bigger sucker for album covers than I´d previously thought. So so so good. I wish more artists would utilize these artistic paintings type of artworks for their albums. I´m yet to see a bad one of those. Honestly such a fun listen, I can totally see why this is an important album, not only for Lorde and her discography, but also for the 2016-2017 era of music.

21 by Adele

Honestly, I was in no mood to listen to a whole Adele album (I never really cared for her music, but obviously knew the hits and could appreciate the talent). This was an enjoyable listen! So well produced for 2011, easily on par if not better than what we´re getting in the big 2026.

Actually took me a while to spin this one, but it really blew my expectations. Simple man is such a tune! Thank you, I needed that today.
