Queen meets Kurt Weill. This one got so stuck in my head I gave it an additional point.

It's gonna be hard for the generator to top this. I have to admit my hip-hop knowledge is scanty at best. First time listening to this album from start to finish. OMG I missed out.

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades

Yeah, that guy from Fear The Walking Dead is a latin jazz musician. This album is better than any and every epsiode of Fear The Walking Dead.

The College Dropout by Kanye West
Aug 21 2026

2 points deducted for his future white supremacist heel-turn. I mean, I like the album, I think the "genius" label is overrated and even in the "George Bush doesn't care about black people" phase, Kanye put a Jesus track in the middle of this album. It's like the signs were already there.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Aug 23 2026

The soundtrack to every weirdly misogynistic 1980's scifi romcom you've ever seen.

The Blueprint by JAY Z
Aug 24 2026

I'm educating myself on hip-hop. Do rap artists still brag about being millionaires? Seems a bit outdated, but I LURVE the beats Jay-Z chose here.

Live At Leeds by The Who
Aug 25 2026

I mean hey, it's The Who. But it's live. Keith Moon is singular, but you start to realize why the backing vocals have been turned down.

I'll admit I'm biased against Live albums. For me, this was not a good introduction to The Fall.

Trio by Dolly Parton

Sublime. RIP Dolly. :(

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen

BRUUUUCE!

Aug 29 2026

THIS is what I missed - hip-hop got toxified for me early - it was the unavoidable soundtrack for my senior year in high school. Well, bad mainstream hip-hop that dumb high schoolers liked. This is the first album (okay, 2nd - RIP Dolly) I'm putting back in rotation.

Hey remember when Sinéad went on SNL and tore up a picture of the Pope and said "this is your real enemy"? Remember how she did that like a decade before the Spotlight investigation? I mean, she wasn't wrong. I think we should all apologize to Sinéad's career.

Fire Of Love by The Gun Club
Sep 30 2026

The guitarist is doing hardcore punk & delta blues at the same time while the lead singer is channeling Velvet Underground-era Lou Reed. Youtube says they're psycho blues-punk rockers. I call it pure 1980's chaos and I love it.

The Sounds Of India by Ravi Shankar

So this is what George Harrison was on about. The introduction is helpful - yes, you should be in the right frame of mind before giving it a listen.
