Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman

Fast Car and Baby Can I Hold You are obviously great. Also great: Behind the Wall She’s Got Her Ticket For my Lover For You Album never really loses momentum. Couple songs I would skip if it was on CD: Mountain o Tings Why? Overall, would listen to this again and would buy the vinyl and wouldn’t be compelled to lift the needle

3.5 stars Incredible production. Very atmospheric. Most songs are very long but they’re easy to lose track of time to. Seems influential to Reznor and Ross film score output. Not knowing the lyrics might lower the emotional impact. Need to listen to this with an upgraded system. Tracks 1-3 all very enjoyable listen. Track 4 is the first underwhelming one 5 is ok 6-7: bangers, if possible for an atmospheric post rock album 8-9: underwhelming 10: nice little outro. Leaves you with a sense of foreboding

2.5 Stars Roundabout: banger, obv. Heard this one before. Cans and Brahms: quite a whimsical jaunt (derogatory) We Have Heaven: ...back-to-back tracks that are more of a transition than song? South Side of the Sky: good production for the time. Song is fine. Pretty perfect example of why prog just aint my thing Five Per Cent for Nothing: funky transitional song. Long Distance Runaround: fine The Fish: prob 2nd best non-transitional track on here behind Roundabout Mood for a day: quite a whimsical jaunt (complimentary) Heart of the Sunrise: Correction, this is the 2nd best song on the album. Overall: bookended by bangers, rest is pretty meh. If I was a bigger prog rock fan, I would probably have enjoyed it more.
