I’m so glad this was my first album on the list. I’ve heard a few of the songs separately but never the entire album. It was like a religious experience. So many variations of music and genres wrapped in one album. Some sounds we hear every day now that had to have been absolutely mind blowing at the time of release. Hendrix is the number one guitarist in my book. There were notes of The Beatles, R&B and jazz that opens your eyes to so many other things if you’re willing. He makes the guitar sing and talk as if it’s speaking its own mind. I also detected some hints of where RHCP got their sound in Gypsy Eyes. Truly a phenomenal album. One to be glad I’m on Earth as the same time as this masterpiece.
Another classic but toned down some. A moment to take a breather and enjoy the music.
This one doesn’t even need an introduction. It shows the diversity of all of the members. You get the philosophical thought provoking songs with John, the “fun” songs from Paul, the more solemn but thought songs with George and the upbeat country feel with Ringo. You also get a more modern punk feel in some songs. I know most would say this isn’t the “best” album of The Beatles but the amount of popular songs on this album prove that wrong.
Not my favorite. I hear many rhythms or bass lines that could be great or are great but the lyrics and overall flow of the songs are…meh.
This is one of those albums that hit me with that feeling of “I’m so glad I got to listen to this for the first time ever”. I thought I had an idea of what it would sound like but I was so wrong. And I’m glad I was wrong. It really shows the diversity of The Beach Boys and they weren’t just a “surfer boy band”. I listened to it twice just because I loved it that much. And it honestly surprised me how much I loved it. Definitely found some new repeats: “Long Promised Road”, “Student Demonstration Time”, “Lookin’ At Tomorrow” and “A Day In The Life Of A Tree”
I know why this album is on this list because Elvis was groundbreaking for rock music. But…it’s hard to compare it to more modern rock music. The guitar riffs were repetitive, the rhythm simple but steady. Nothing wrong with that because Elvis is how we got to today’s music but I give it a 3.5 star. Why 3.5? Because of how raw and personal each song felt with his voice. The nakedness of the recordings is what makes it, I think. One I had never heard before was “I Love You Because” and the acoustic back porch feel struck me the most and the lyrics are beautiful.
I decided to take this one to the next level and listen to it on cassette and vinyl. The main reason is because the entire album isn’t available on YouTube Music but it also gave me a reason to listen in the way The Eagles intended it.
I’m glad I did because I didn’t realize how much I was missing by sitting and listening to it all the way through. I’ve listened to many of the songs separately many, many times. But sitting alone with headphones and a cassette rolling while you actually listen to the lyrics? Can’t beat that.
Listening as an adult is totally different for each song.

Never thought I’d be listening to an album such as this. And I can’t say I hated it. It’s different, naturally, but as a former band nerd, I could picture a marching band show put together with some of these songs. Yes, I’m aware he’s a composer. But I see the vision: just add a drum line and some horns and you got yourself one interesting type of show. You definitely have to be in the mood for it as well as eclectic but I enjoyed it more than I expected I would.
I’ve never really listened to Wilco so I do have to say…started off not so great. But then pulled me back in. It is a long album so it’s not one I can say I would listen again real soon but I’ll keep it in my rotation and a few songs stuck out more and did make it to my playlist. Some albums you can just listen to all three way through anytime but others, you have to be in that state of mind to “feel” and listen. This is one of those albums.
You can’t go wrong with Bob Marley. Most of these I had never heard or had only heard a portion of it. There’s something about his music and lyrics that relaxes you.
Can’t go wrong with The Boss. My second favorite of his for sure.

Nah. Not feeling this one. Separately, the songs aren’t all bad. But it’s repetitive.
Glad I listened to this all the way through. I had heard two of the songs before on this album but never listened to all of it. There’s something about Prince that you can just tell by the music that it’s Prince. This is one of those albums.
I actually liked this more than I thought I would. Yeah it’s typical 90’s punk rock so it sounds repetitive but glad I got to listen to something totally brand new to me.

Quite possibly the best album ever written I believe. I’ve never heard all the songs on this album and I had no idea there were so many wonderful Stevie Wonder songs I was missing out on. I feel like I’m one of the few that knew “Pastime Paradise” was the original to “Gangsta’s Paradise”. I can safely say this one will be on rotation.
Not the best but not the worst either. I like it but it also has moments of repetition or just meh for me.
Destiny’s Child was -the- female group growing up in the late 90’s and early 00’s. I see why this album is on the list but it also has its “cringy” moments. The Charlie’s Angels thing was such a thing for them then but now it almost makes it come across like this album was made for the movie remake and none of them were even in it. But also 70’s fashion and pop culture were big then too hence those references. The roller coaster between “Nasty Girl” and “The Story of Beauty” are honestly humorous to me. The shaming is total irony. Overall, I can honestly only give this a 2 simply because it’s not what I would consider a great album. Groundbreaking for women, yes. But overall great? It’s meh. The nostalgia is fun but truly only 3 songs are memorable: “Independent Women, Part I”, “Survivor” and “Emotion”.
My list started on Hendrix and I never knew how much I was missing before by just knowing the “hits”. Now with this one, it’s the same feeling. I now understand why it was The Jimi Hendrix Experience because each song and album is truly an experience. It’s a good thing I was not born in time to experience his music live. I would’ve been a problem to my parents and society.
And it’s almost as if the list provides Hendrix when I need it most and least expect it. Highly recommend listening with headphones to get the full effect. Also can’t help to be under some sort of influence to truly appreciate the sound.
I was honestly surprised this was on the list. Not because it’s not good, just wasn’t expecting it I guess. Linkin Park was a huge part of my teen years in the early 00’s and although I’ve heard these songs pretty regularly, listening to the album all the way through was different. Brought back memories of driving around at night with friends.
But to the album itself, it is a bit repetitive but I feel like all modern pop or rock sounds pretty repetitive when a band or artist gets popular, that sound just sticks with them. That being said, the lyrics are heavy and personal. You can feel Chester’s emotions in every song. Puts a whole new perspective on it after his death, too.
Ranking wise? 3.5 honestly. Especially when yesterday was Hendrix, hard to compare to some of the others on the list.

As much as I love Dre and Snoop, this album hasn’t aged well. Granted, it was the debut album for Dre but I had to skip the first two because of the dick talk over and over. We get it. No need to continue on and on.
Honestly? 2.5-3 stars simply because they’ve clearly improved since this and the immaturity level of it is honestly humorous.
Wow. I’m completely blown away with this one. You always hear how people say they wish they could wipe their brain of a certain album and listen to it again? This feels like one of those albums. From the intro in “Supervixen” it immediately grabs your attention. Each song is easily stuck in my head if not just for the melodies and rhythm. The vocals are truly mesmerizing almost putting you in a trance. This album actually felt like it was meant for me on this particular day. Each song was like a build up to a situation I’m going through. Full of anger, anxiety and fear.
Solid album for sure. I gotta say my knowledge of The Temptations was limited to only 3-4 songs. Imagine my surprise when “Run, Charlie, Run” came on…
But seriously, you can’t beat the vocals, the lyrics and the melodies they created.
Yeah I’m gonna pass. I really question how some albums get on this list. You’re telling me this album is in the same category as Hendrix, The Beatles and Stevie Wonder? Yeah…sure, Jan.
