1001 Albums Summary

Consistent vibe throughout, raw and hard hitting with kinda haunting samples. Everything feels carefully thought out which I guess is kinda what the whole chess thing is about. Not the kinda thing I could just listen to at any time tho. Wu tang roots show heavily with the features however is distinct from 36 chambers and is definitely more experimental and a darker tone. Method man ODB and ghostface all have such distinct voices which all add a lot. The last track B.I.B.L.E seems a bit out of place with the rest of the album Highlights: Duel of the iron mic 4th chamber Shadowboxin

The whole album sounds like it would go very hard performed live in a bar. Would make a good movie soundtrack. Bonus points for the guy that starts making harmonica noises. Not sure how much I love the vocals on some of the tracks. Riders on the storm closes out the album very well. Very atmospheric sounds. Overall not a bad album, just don’t think I’d listen very often. Honourable mention for L’America, very good instrumentals. Highlights: Car hiss by the window Hyacinth House Riders on the storm

Straight off the bat I didn’t love it and that vibe kinda kept throughout. The title track made me want to crash my car just to shut it up. I realise this is probably really profound if I dig Deep into to the lyrics but I just find it boring and in some cases really annoying. The highlighted songs actually aren’t terrible, just overall I don’t love it . Is worth noting on a second listen I enjoyed it more. It’s very bluesy so maybe in a different mood I’d be on it Highlights: When you Dance I really can love Cripple creek ferry Only love can break your heart
