Ramones by Ramones

This was a fun album, more for the production than for the lyrics but I think the energy of the instrumental is what carries. It's like one long, extended song with incredible guitar rifts and then it ends and you're like wait what? In looking into the group formation you really can hear how this album/group lays the foundation for punk rock as a group. It feels thrilling to listen to. Best songs: I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement, Loudmouth, 53rd and 3rd, Let's Dance Weaknesses: this may have just been missed by me but they really weren't saying too much lyrically- I don't think they wanted to either (it seems more vibes)

I think this was a beautiful album but wasn’t for me. Biggest pro was the storytelling this man does, absolutely phenomenal. Faves: Can I Sleep in your arms

LOVED. Big fan of the blues genre and blues/soul focused take on these cover songs. An album that I will visit, that felt nice to listen to. I think there's a level of emotion that Otis Redding expresses in his voice that feels so authentic which makes these already familiar songs feel new Favorites: I Can't Get No satisfaction, Down in the Valley, Respect

Morrison Hotel by The Doors

This was SO fun, honestly I had no expectations and I really enjoyed my listen. The blues/rock/soul infusion was very well done, with the intro track setting the tone from the beginning. There was a lot of range and even the few ballads were pretty solid. Intentional track placement, All in all a great album Favorites: Roadhouse Blues, Peace Frog, Indian Summer

This was fascinating to say the least. An interesting trippy, psychedelic, experimental rock moment. I don’t know what they talking about but they’re having a good time let me tell ya Favorite: 21st century Schizoid Man

I think in a world where I do acid trips on a semi regular basis, this is a 100/10 album. Alas, I am sober and packing for a trip to Miami and so this album is great but v out there. A fun, psychedelic, trip to outer space Favorites: Can you get to that, Super Stupid

THE ALBUM COVER. THE PRODUCTION. THE VOCALS. No notes. So dreamy. They really said you want disco??? I’ll give you disco. Me on coke would LOVE this let me tell you. Me driving to RDU at 5am still enjoyed Fav: Le Freak, Happy Man, at last I’m free, funny bone

Aqualung by Jethro Tull

This was honestly much more interesting as an album than I thought it was going to be! Was definitely a situation where I judged book by cover and was wrong tbh. Wonderfly constructed percussion/instrumentals, and interesting (although not always relatable) storytelling. Will listen again Fav songs: aqualung, hymn 43, cross-eyed Mary

I think if I could get past the misogny this would be 5 stars. A hiphop staple, particularly a west coast staple and a frank take on saying I hate cops and honestly if you pull up on me we're fighting. Rapping was well done, great storytelling just a little too anti-woman/misogynoir.
