1001 Albums Summary

VERY '90s. Not bad. Electro-sample jazz. Probably wouldn't listen to again unless I needed some '90s soundtrack music. Glad to finally hear the music behind the Portishead name. ... Whole album sounds the same. Getting a little tiresome by the last track.

Great album. Not quite Rumors, but lots of good songs. Enough boring songs to knock it down a star from perfect, tho.

I can appreciate the artistry, but not for me. Like a jazzy Muse, but this dude's no Matt Bellamy.

Really enjoyed it at first! Sounds surprisingly contemporary(2026) for 1981. Got tired of it by the end of the album though. Too much of the same to be 5-stars for me. I will listen to some of these songs again in the future, but probably not the whole album at once.

With all the vocal and instrumental layers, this sounds like an album I could really appreciate while high.  I liked it, but it came too soon after Tapestry, and I can only handle so much '70s piano in one week.

Enjoyed this and will listen to it again. I could see myself giving this five stars in the future if I continue to like it.

Enjoyed it. But not sure how I feel about punk songs with a pop vibe. Sounded too clean and well-produced! Will definitely listen again. Jury is still out.

Did not enjoy. After reading about the band, I can appreciate that they were pioneers of a new sound and style, but would not listen to again.

Pleasant enough in the background, but nothing compelled me to give it a purposeful listen. Maybe it was a fresh sound at the time, but seems very forgettable now.
