Ace of Spades by Motörhead

One star, for the title track only. Music for losers. Absolute shite.

Bad by Michael Jackson

I must have worn out multiple needles playing this album when I was 13. Time has not been kind. Extra marks off for, well, you know. All the stuff.

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes

Raucous. Enjoyed it more than I thought.

The Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden

Not for me. Never was, never has been, and this repeated listen hasn’t changed my mind.

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers

Some classics on here.

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees

I’ve never listened to anything like this before. It sounded much more polished than perhaps I was expecting, and Siouxie’s voice is unique. Interesting. Probably a grower.

Not usually a fan of live albums, and don’t usually feel like I’ve missed out on anything, but this sounded like a hell of a night. You can almost smell the cigarette smoke. His voice is absolutely unbelievable.

Play by Moby

A long-forgotten old favourite. Lovely to hear it again. I remembered it far better than I thought I would, having not heard it for 20 years.

Hysteria by Def Leppard
Oct 03 2021

The last time I heard this, I was round at my friend Rhys’s house, playing ZX Spectrum games. He played this tape on constant rotation, because he loved it. I hated it. 30 or so years on, I didn’t hate it. It’s still not really my thing, but it’s a solid rock album, and it gets an extra star for transporting me back to happy, carefree times.
