track 2 (feel it) was SO fun to listen to chain gang has a really nice hook so far one of the best live albums ive ever listened to each track so far has been super melodic and a whole experience ok so i just finished the full album really good for my first soul album and i can definitely see the influence in later music 8/10
its groovy it feels VERY 80s (not a bad thing) i can for sure see the influences in later music from this album the first few songs are pretty good, second half not so much 5/10
i hate this album cover "crying" has a really nice slap technique on the riffs throughout the lead singers voice is really nice reminds me of captial cites in a way the closer has an incredible saxophone performance i will be returning to tracks like "crying" and "DLZ" frequently i think 7/10
the opener works well the singers voice is so so annoying im reading lyrics as i go along and the lyrics are powerful and clever the really short second track has a really catchy instrumental a lot of the songs are just hard to listen to every song so far i dont see myself returning to but i enjoy the guitar the track "mr suit" is one of the most annoying songs ive heard in a while this would be a 1/10 if it wasnt influential and had bad songwriting 2/10 worst one we've had yet
I have never heard a full reggae album before this so Im going in not knowing what to expect Second track is pretty good I feel like all the tracks work well together and would be better listened to all together Overall nice easy listen and a great experience could definitely see myself returning to this project in the future 6/10
I have listened to this album before Her flows are incredible throughout almost every track Artists like Queen Latifah, Big Daddy Kane, etc really pioneered certain sounds that segued into later 90s rap like Big L, Lauryn Hill and others Samples on this album are well executed De La Souls feature on MGBTTSC has a good flow and overall the track just has interesting sounds you dont always hear Ladies First is an incredible song Just the influence this album has on future classics is incredible The saxophone and bass instrumentals across the album are so good I really enjoy this project 7/10
A couple songs had a relaxing instrumental This was just overall boring Favorite track: Cecilia 4/10
I think this was a really well done indie record especially for a debut album Most tracks have a fun, upbeat instrumental I enjoyed this however there were low points on it I also really enjoyed the MF DOOM remix of Tonight May Have To Last Me All My Life 6/10
I have only heard songs from this album but never the full album I agree with everyone else that thriller - beat it - billie jean is an amazing three track run Enjoyed this one but a lot of tracks were just meh 6/10
I just deleted all my notes accidentally oh my god here we go I could never really get into sigur rós because of the new language thing but I think it is cool in concept The instrumentals fit the singing well in almost every track The new language is kind of growing on me now I like it I kinda like how each track is really long for some reason The singing is really well executed even though I dont understand it I enjoyed this project way more than I thought I would and I really loved it I am blown away 10/10
I hate the singers voice so much Im sure this is a great album that was influential and helped grow punk but I am not a fan of punk so I give this a 1/10
My only problem with this album is the singers voice, I HATE it The instrumentals on certain tracks like "Stay Hungry are really fun to listen to I dont have a ton of negative things to say about this album 6/10
I was really not expecting to like this album as much as I ended up doing The riffs are well executed and the hooks work on each songs The singers voice isnt super annoying like some other ones we've had 7/10
The funky basslines on this thing are INSANE Some of the bars on this album are so crazy (i havent decided if its a good thing or bad thing yet) I feel like this album in general didnt age amazingly, it is absolutely a staple of its era, though. You wouldn't see anyone making something like this in 2022 Barely any of the bars that I will remember going forward have aged well at all I can see the influence this album has in later artists such as Del The Funky Homosapien I just dont think this album has aged well, I do like the instrumentals for almost every track though 5/10
Singing on this album is pretty good Some tracks are just okay The track "See That Animal" is amazing The second half of this album is definitely better than the first 6/10
Riffs arent great on this Bass is kinda hit or miss but its mostly good The singer sounds kinda bored at points to me Some songs just feel like filler Overall not the worst thing we've had but still not amazing 4/10
Almost everything on this album is well done This album is really well orchestrated A lot of arcade fires music reminds me of a park hangout or something like that in a way, which I like I can definitely see myself revisiting some songs from this album 7/10
Im sure this is a great album for this genre and influential, I didnt really enjoy it 3/10
The drums on this album are crazy This is definitely one of our better punk albums THE HORNS ON THIS WHAT Enjoying so far Born in '69 is a great song The cover is gross but the music sounds cool The vocals arent great but the instrumentals definitely make up for it 7/10
While You See A Chance is a great track Synths are really well orchestrated and the drums are nice too Singing is well done I dont have a ton of bad things to say about this album. I really liked it which I wasnt expecting 7/10
Synths sound good so far on this album I recognize "Tainted Love" and I think its a fun listen Some of the instrumentals especially on "Seedy Films" sound really dumb but funny at the same time Sex Dwarf is such a weird song Really weird album with some nice instrumentals 4/10
Im sure this is a great classic rock album, I dont really like that type of stuff. Had some cool riffs but I found it a little cheesy 4/10
I feel like this album all sounds the same Some really good piano and guitar on this, but I found it to all sound very similar to each other. I also like the drum work on this too 5/10
Ill be honest I really did not like this album I dont have many positives to say The bass player did really well? I wasnt a fan of like anything else 2/10
This album reminds me of wintertime which I really like The guitar on this sounds amazing and it sounds nostalgic I feel like I would listen to this more as a full album, not just individual songs Enjoyed a lot 7/10
THIS is what I would consider a top tier soul album. Everything on this album is well put together, Aretha's voice has so much emotion and power. This album has highs and lows, each instrumental fitting the vocals incredibly well. I love basically everything about this album and I see myself listening to a bunch of these tracks very frequently. 8/10
Liked this a little bit more than I thought I would. I really enjoyed the instrumentals on this, the singing was fine but I didnt love it The saxophone that some songs had was often well done and I liked the guitar riffs. I feel like a lot of this sounded dated aswell 5/10 (p.s. i know the rolling stones is my grandma's favorite so im sorry grandma for giving them a low rating i promise i dont hate them)
Everything about this album. The instrumentation, the emotion, the singing, everything. This album is perfect. I can see myself listening to this album in every situation in my life, on a walk, working, etc. I think this is a TEXTBOOK 10/10 album. I think this is the best album we've had so far in this, right beside Ágætis Byrjun. EASY 10/10
90s rap has a very unique feel to it I can't place my finger on, whenever I hear it, I KNOW its from that era of rap. That goes for this album aswell Some of the lyrics are very over the top I especially love Mental Stamina. Great feature from Afu-Ra and I enjoyed this album a lot overall. 6/10
INCREDIBLE BASS SO FAR I can hear so much influence in later electronic music from this album This album for me is exciting. Every track I was thinking about what the next one would be like Every instrumental is super unique I feel like this, daft punk, etc. really pioneered this genre and this project still holds up. While this definitely isnt my favorite electronic project, I think this could definitely be in my top 25 electronic albums currently. 8/10
Heres one that Ive listened to countless times finally This is THE definitive album of the late 90s alt-rock era. This album is a masterpiece start to finish, it never dips in quality and every song is good. The influence this album has on almost every single alternative rock album after it is insane. EASIEST 10/10 we've had so far. One of my favorites of all time
9/10 i think bob dylan might die kind of soon hes an old man
havent rated in an album in literal ages but just saw i got this one and had to rate it its like a 9.5 this album is incredible
