The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Apr 28 2024

Have never listened to big band and am kind of loving this. Let’s see how an albums-worth of this goes. Okay. This is cool. Especially liked the first three and Teddy the Toad

Songs For Swingin' Lovers! by Frank Sinatra
Apr 29 2024

All the sounded the same. Franks voice is truly magical but there was no variety.

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
Apr 30 2024

Surprised by how I enjoyed this album. Not taking the lyrics too seriously helped, but definitely appreciate and acknowledge Eminem’s talents. Enjoyed it front to back.

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
May 01 2024

Surprised I had never listened to the full album before, and knew so many of the songs already. Loved how each song sounded different and Jimi and the rest of the band’s musicianship was just incredible. From the lyrics to the guitar work, I will be listening to this on repeat.

Penance Soiree by The Icarus Line
May 02 2024

I’m a fan of noise rock, but this just didn’t click for me. There were parts that I enjoyed punctuated by atonal noise that went nowhere. Surprised this is on the list when there are many others who have done it better. Liked about half the songs.

Let It Be by The Replacements
May 03 2024

Classic. Such a change from Hootenanny. Full of great melodies, teenage angst, and different styles. Loved every somg.

American Gothic by David Ackles
May 05 2024

Pretty but not my kind of music. Very theatrical but also not very interesting to me. The music and arrangements are interesting but didn’t capture my attention throughout.

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
May 06 2024

The music is pretty great, and pretty heavy for the time. I found myself laughing at the singing, especially on Child in Time, because it was ridiculous and I loved it. Won’t be listening to this again but love it for what it is.

May 07 2024

Loved this. Reminds me of something my mom would have listened to and can see myself coming back to this.

Jack Takes the Floor by Ramblin' Jack Elliott
May 08 2024

The lyrics are pretty great, but I guess I’m still not a fan of folk music because it got pretty boring pretty quickly. I can appreciate his musicianship and lyricism, but it’s just not for me.

Mask by Bauhaus
May 09 2024

Bauhaus makes goth music fun. This album was a blueprint for so many goth bands that followed but what makes it stand out is the total uniqueness of the music itself.

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
May 11 2024

Really great blues and rock and roll. Fantastic playing by the whole band, great songs, though maybe it was about twenty minutes too long. Too bad Eric Clapton is a POS or I could see myself listening to this again.

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
May 13 2024

I’ll admit I’m not the biggest rap or hip hop fan, but this was phenomenal. It reminds me of when rap was dangerous and had more to say than who has illegitimate children and who is on Ozempic. I’m curious to see how others would rate this, it’s not fun or light listening in terms of what’s being conveyed, so I can see a lot of people being dismissive or reductive, which is a shame because it’s pretty incredible. Instantly a fan of this and will listen often.

The Idiot by Iggy Pop
May 15 2024

Sounds like a Bowie album. I love Bowie. What’s not to like?

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
May 17 2024

Very impressive album with so many different styles and genres all done so well. Monae’s voice is perfection. My Only gripe is that it is too long and a bit self-indulgent. Had she removed 3 songs or so it would have been even better.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
May 18 2024

This album was where Pink Floyd finally “clicked” for me and started me on a deep dive into their entire discography. Incredible album front to back.

The Visitors by ABBA
May 20 2024

Not what I expected from ABBA. Every song is impeccable, and reading about the history it’s a surprisingly deep and emotional album. I somehow loved this album front to back.

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
May 21 2024

Pop folk punk perfection. One of the greatest albums ever made front to back, not a weak song on the entire album.

Ingenue by k.d. lang
May 27 2024

Hey voice is beautiful, and I can appreciate it but this isn’t my genre of music. But again, her voice is incredible.

Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
May 28 2024

A perfect product of the time, and one of the greatest debuts ever released.

On The Beach by Neil Young
Jun 09 2024

Neil Young is someone I never found a path to, and this album made me want to correct that. I especially liked the last three songs which were so laid back and unhurried. I thought I would hate his voice but I loved it.

Imagine by John Lennon
Jun 12 2024

Best solo Beatle album I’ve heard so far.

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Jun 25 2024

Pretty great, enjoyable to listen to. Some of the songs I thought were incredible, others were just of blah.
