Janelle MonáeOverall: 3/5. This was a very Interesting and fun listen but mostly not up my personal alley. She has Undeniable talent, and I don't regret listening to it at all.

just a whole bunch of meh. every song sounds the same. not repulsive or awful, just boring and stagnent
really great listen. the beats were great and even though I didn't understand anything, it was still great! the flow was on point as well.
really solid album. At one point it had back-to back-to back hits. Just didn't hit that 5/5 rating for me. really solid 4/5
debated giving this a 1 but ultimately i came up with a few tracks I enjoyed. Mostly just bleh. Everything sounded the same and kind of hurt my ears
didn't blow me out of the water; not my personal taste but I can appreciate the lyric writing and musical elements of this album.
it was just meh not for me
It wasn't bad, but the sound quality was just plain bad. It's not their fault; it's what they had available to them at the time. But I can't get past it. Some of the songs may have been good if they were refined more and had better quality. I'm giving it a 3/5 out of respect and appreciation for the music writing and lyrics; it didn't hurt my ears and it was an enjoyable listen but none of the songs stood out to me.
The music was enjoyable, but there were some flaws. For one, it was a long album with long songs. I'm not the biggest fan of long songs. Some long songs are okay, but there were 2 10 minute songs and like 2 or 3 8 minute songs. A little too much for me. Secondly, I couldn't understand the lyrics. That's not something that bothers me that much (I gave a French album a 4/5), but for an album like this, the lyrics are important. I just didn't get significant meaning or value from the songs. Lastly, none of the songs really stood out to me. They were all fine and enjoyable, but not standout. I give it a 3/5.
Nothing special. The songs were okay. 3/5
Does almost every song sound the same? Yes. Was it a fun and enjoyable album? Yes.
Got really tired of it fast. Not my style of music at all. Songs are way too long. Couldn't even do it in one sitting. 1/5
The album was decent. I liked the instrumentals of many of the songs. The vocals is where it fell short, in my opinion. Additionally, some of the songs seemed repetitive throughout them. 3/5 is about right for this album.
surprisingly good. liked a couple songs and added them to playlists. synths got a little repetitive but still I did not expect to like this as much as I did
This album is so freaking good. It's groovy, the songs transition into each other, and it just sounds awesome. Vocals, instrumentals, and songwriting are top notch. My first five star and well deserved. This is a song I'd buy on vinyl if I collected them
I found the instrumentals very pleasing and interesting, and the vocal performances were good. Unfortunately, the lyrics were lacking. There was no depth, and often it's just the same repeated line throughout all the songs. Still an enjoyable listen, though. Textbook 3/5
Four songs into the first listen and I was thinking 2 or 3. Then I got like 5 songs I liked in a row, and decided to give the album another listen. Man it grows on you. Liability, Hard Feelings/Loveless, Writer in the Dark, Supercut, Perfect Places. Very nice album.
