Some harmless fun, I had a decent time while listening. I didn’t get anything more out of this though.

That was a great gem. I have never heard of Nederbeat so I’m excited to dive into that at some time. Just really good 60s garage and then being from Netherlands obviously makes it extra cool. The bonus tracks were pretty good as well. I might’ve given 5 stars if I was more familiar with it but for now a strong four stars.
Rating: 4.5
It is cool to read about its influence and I think I can kind of hear what sets this one apart. I still have too little an understanding of the genre to really get much out of it.

This one definitely signifies a new era for REM. It doesn’t have a consistent texture like their previous but I think it’s their best eclectic album. There are a couple songs that might not work for me but overall I think most of their attempts hit the target. And then obviously their huge hit is on here as well. Probably my favorite American band.
Rating: 4.5
It picked up steam as it went but I still found it largely forgettable. The only interesting thing I found was that they were from Australia.
Rating: 1.8
That was a decent pop album with some catchy melodies. It’s always nice to hear Weyes Blood even if just as a background singer. It reminded me of Jack Antonoff’s stuff.
Rating: 3.2
That was a nice change of pace. It definitely brought a unique sound not represented on the original list. I’m not familiar with the genre but am open to hearing more. It moves at a glaciers pace yet interesting how it can still provide exciting parts.
Rating: 2.8
I enjoyed the novelty through the first few but it wore off by the end. Still glad I heard this one, I think it’s successful at what it’s trying to accomplish.
Rating: 2.4
That was fun, it reminded me of Throwing Muses and a couple other bands. The first half was definitely stronger but the second half was still pretty solid. Not sure if this has much impact on the music world in general but regardless a decent album to listen to.
Rating: 3.8
It is more creative and having more fun than most other hip hop albums I’ve heard but most of the songs still fell flat for me. When it works it’s a lot of fun but that wasn’t often enough. It has the same issue as many others of the time in quality control. It didn’t need to be near that long.

I quite love early French punk/post punk (Marie et Les garcons is my favorite) but have never been exposed to where the genre went after the early 80s. This was a thrilling ride. Just great punk right down main street. I agree with the user who submitted it that live albums can be the way to go for punk assuming the audio quality isn’t in the toilet. It’s hard to make a long punk album so kudos for making 70 minutes that felt varied.
Rating: 4.6
They don’t have their own sound but there are some decent songs in there. I could see this being great nostalgic music if I had grown up with it but without that it just seems like a band following the trends of the time.
Rating: 2.5
Interestingly sits at a unique intersection between a few artists. It definitely has an 80s sound to it but I don’t mean that as a bad thing. It gives it a slightly lighter, goofier tone than if it was made in the 90s or beyond.
Who knows when I’ll return to it but it offers something different than I’ve heard and am glad to have listened. I quite like pragVEC so had no idea he was apart of that although it sounds like he wasn’t too involved.
Rating: 2.7
Very important live album, I have no qualms about this being included. This is one of those that’s more a snapshot of history to appreciate than one to throw on all the time in the same way as Bob Dylan’s Judas concert. That makes putting a rating on this one tough as the influence/importance is very high but my enjoyment is pretty low.
Rating: 2.5
It’s definitely unique and I’m glad I heard it but did not enjoy besides the opening track. My dislike might be my fault. It is way too early in the morning for this one.
Rating: 1.7
It was some decent fun but could’ve been trimmed a bit.
Rating: 2.5
Im vaguely familiar with the hyperpop PC music scene but have quite liked it whenever I’ve experienced it. This isn’t as accessible as some others I’ve heard in the genre but that’s part of the allure. Pop music that tries to slap you across the face is rare but quite fun when done right. I can see how this was influential to those in the scene and feels like more of an album experience than its peers. As I come back to this, I can see my rating rising but for a casual to the genre it was a three star experience.

Khruangbin is always a comforting listen. It’s like when a warm day wraps around you like a blanket. It’s been a bit but think this is my favorite of theirs. It’s got a few of their bigger hits and the rest are solid too.
Rating: 4.7
It was a bit too much down Main Street for me. I didn’t find any of the arrangements particularly interesting. It is the music playing during the slideshow of a youth mission trip.
Rating: 1.8
There was only one song I really liked. The cover is pretty and I appreciate its weirdness.
Rating: 1.7
I have enjoyed outlaw country so a welcome addition of an artist I've never heard of. There were a couple songs I really liked but it wasn’t my favorite of the genre.
Rating: 2.5
Definitely one of the gaps in the original list. The big hits are still great and while I don’t love most of the other songs, they still provided a nice calming feeling.
Rating: 3.5
That was a lot of fun. I thought it was going in a shoegaze direction during the opening track but then the metal comes in and doesn’t let up. This one will be fun to explore further from a country where I know so little about their music history.
Rating: 3.7
It was pleasant to listen to. I’ve heard of them but never listened to their stuff so glad to correct that.
Rating: 2.7
It reminds me of Goldfrapp’s second album but doesn’t connect as well with me. Harmless pop.
Rating: 2.3
I have seen this album cover a decent bit so nice to hear where it comes from. I liked this more than most of the SoCal punk I’ve heard but SoCal punk is my least favorite punk unfortunately. There were some interesting songs but most of it went by without an impact.
Rating: 2.9
I didn’t mind some of the instrumentals and it was surprisingly close to REM every now and then. But yeah not for me.
Rating: 1.5
That was smooth and quite fun over the first half. Once it slowed the pace down on the second half I thought it got a bit boring but still glad I heard it.
Rating: 3.7
Yeah I just have different tastes than this submitter. Dr Octagon is apparently a five star album while Pet Sounds is one star. Sounds like a random band you’d hear in a bar. Rating: 1.4
I can hear the post rock foundation being laid so glad I’ve heard this one. But did I enjoy it? No I did not.
Rating: 2.4
A bit too early in the morning and too long. I only really liked the final track but I listened to some of his top tracks from other albums and enjoyed them more at least.
Rating: 1.8
I always don’t like rating international stuff too low but I’ve heard a decent bit of Brazilian music I like over this. Found it quite forgettable. Honestly I hate that people who haven’t finished the list get to submit albums.
Rating: 1.4
The user list feels like a waste of time honestly. The whole point is essential albums yet everyone has to submit their niche picks. If even the person who submitted the album doesn’t have it as five stars then what is it doing here.

Just go to a therapist already.
