Somewhere In The Between
Album Summary

This album has been submitted by a user and is not included in any edition of the book.

Somewhere in the Between is the third studio album by American ska punk band Streetlight Manifesto. Somewhere in the Between was released on November 13, 2007; the band had been selling CD copies at one of their shows four days prior. In November and December 2007, the band went on a US tour alongside Suburban Legends and the Stitch Up. On November 26, an animated music video was released for "We Will Fall Together". A version of it had appeared online the previous of it, which was reported to be a rough cut. They ended the year supporting Less Than Jake on their headlining tour of Australia. Punknews.org ranked the album at number 19 on their list of the year's 20 best releases.

Ska has never really been my thing. Big band punk is such an peculiar, specific remit to hang a whole genre on. But even if I would not seek more of this out, it is clearly a cut above, in the composition and execution of the music and in the smart and well-constructed lyrics.

This album is the pinnacle of ska punk and one I would save from the collection if the house was on fire

I'm always a sucker for raucous music with a horn section.

I had a dream last night where everyone was trying Subconsciously| knew it was a lie And when woke knew it was time to pray To make amends before the end, before my judgment day I looked around, I stood alone, I knew what had to say I said "lt's all my fault"

Never heard of these and Wiki said American punk ska. 3 words which I dreaded. Very surprised and really enjoyable.

I’d prefer vocals closer to Sublime than Green Day, but the vibe and songs are well constructed. The horn section, however, really elevates this. Fantastic sound, melodies and composing. Really enjoyable because of the brass.

Wasn’t looking forward to a ska punk album, but once I had this playing I enjoyed it a lot. Still not my preferred genre… and not experienced to know if this is the best-of-the-best of ska punk… but it was pretty fun!

Well this was fun. There wasn't enough ska punk and now there's some more. A bit of me is hoping that someone from my era had put some Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish or MU330 on here!!!

Was a bit skeptical at first but by the third track I was on board. Interesting choice to pick this and not the cult classic debut, but I suppose I wouldn’t have heard this album of theirs otherwise!

This a good mix of ska and indie elements which I hadn't heard before. I am not a huge ska fan, but the added layer of orchestral voices to a standard indie mix made everything feel a bit richer and lively which was fun. Does fall into some of the repetitive melodies/rhythms of the genre, but still manages to make a name for itself in its short runtime.

I had so much fun with this. I really enjoy the brass-infused punk, particularly when it has cleverly crafted lyrics to carry you through. Reminded me a lot of NOFX with a Madness brass vibe. Enjoyed thoroughly.

I love the energy that comes from classic SKA. Along with Reel Big Fish, Rippopotamus, Skatalites, Fishbone, No Doubt, Specials... they're great as well. Mo ska = mo better. Really nice choice.

I like ska, but mostly in small doses. It all kind of sounds the same to me. I like the horns in this. 3 stars.

I can do ska in small amounts. 44 minutes as a one-off today will be ok, but I wouldn't make a habit of it. 3/5. Update 20 minutes later: oh god, this really is a lot of ska. The rating stands, but any further ska will get a 1 or 2.

Brassy, energetic and well-played ska punk. The quality of the vocals is a bit irritating to me, but the lyrics are surprisingly thoughtful. Fave Songs: We Will Fall Together, Forty Days, Watch It Crash

This was pretty chill. Not the best ska style but not the worst. It was a decent album. Not a ton to say about it. Just some mid 00s vibe that some people probably loved. 6.1/10

I usually dislike ska punk, but enjoyed this. The emphasis is on the ska, rather than the punk, until the vocal kicks in. Reckon I'd REALY like an instumental version of this. Rating: 3 Playlist track: Down, Down, Down to Mephisto's Cafe. Date listened: 09/12/24

Highly listenable ska punk album. The voice of the singer is a weaker point of the band. A lot of fun, but not groundbreaking in any way.

When I was 14 Less than Jake were one of My favourite bands, Iv never heard of this group before but the music reminded me of what I liked in my younger days. Good accessible ska punk, enjoyed this would I come back to it, probably not now my tastes have changed.

Streetlight Manifesto are less obnoxious and better songwriters than most ska-punk/third wave ska bands, but it's still one of the least enjoyable genres of music for me.

If Sublime, Reel Big Fish, NOFX, and Temu had sexy time, nine months later they may give birth to something like this.

I didn’t so much enjoy this as I did tolerate it for 47 minutes. It wasn’t bad enough for me to turn off but I was glad when it ended.

Woof. No thank you. It's that sort of pop-punk ska type stuff that I never really got into. I had a buddy in high school who loved this kind of music, I bet he loves this album too. But ultimately not for me.

Well, the rhythms are what it aims for... acceleration and that's what it causes, it's fine for those who like it, but to me it only seems like music to "jump" at parties with certain South American influences.

Trying to be respectful, but that's almost impossible if the subject at hand is ska-punk. I really can't stand this for more than 5 seconds. Sorry.
