The Clash by The Clash
May 17 2023

Overall: What is the overall style and genre of the album? Punk, hardcore? I dont really know genres well to assign sub-genres Are there any standout tracks or moments that resonated with you? Hate & War was the best track on the album. Class consciousness came through in the second half of the album which we always stan. Didnt like the mixing, lots of panning and instruments in one ear, Cheat was the worst offender for this. How did the album make you feel? Did it evoke specific emotions? It was good. Energetic is the "emotion" I felt. made me want to get up and do stuff Did you enjoy listening to the album overall? 5/10. It was a fun listen, not un-enjoyable but I think I'm unlikely to ever seek it out again. I know that they have a reputation of being a classic and loved by lots of people so I felt a little guilty while listening that I didnt enjoy the album all that much. Would you recommend this album? Who might particularly enjoy it? No I dont think I'd tell anyone "yo you gotta check out the clashes ST album from 1977." A bit late to put someone on to it. Also I didnt like it enough to recommend it. I do think Danny would love it, hes a big fan of the clash, I think London Calling is one of his top 5. Album Notes: Not sure if this is Seinfeld effect or something. I feel like there are a lot of things that I like about punk and rock in general but I've got the advantage of 50 years of development in the genre. I liked the instrumentals but I found it really hard to get over the unintelligibility of the vocals. Would I listen to this album again?- Not unless it was already on, that is to say that I wouldnt seek it out, but I wouldnt complain if it was on. Track 1 Jaine Jones: Dont love his voice. Bass stands out. Track 2 Remote Control: Lead guitar is fun. Hate the vocals, turbo marbles. chorus-y gang vocals are fun Track 3 I'm So Bored with the USA: Again intro is a bop until the vocals come in and then I cant fucking understand him. "Bored of the USA" - same bro Track 4 White Riot: Its fun, I agree that I want to riot too. Gotta say though, listening in 2023 makes me cringe cause I can only imagine what the right wingers would do with this song if they found it. They think rage against the machine is their music. I can only imagine "White Riot" playing on at least one bluetooth speaker on Jan 6th... Track 5 Hate & War: Best song on the album so far. Track 6 What's my name: Tone change. AYAYAYAAAYAYY AYAYAYAYAAAYAYYYA Track 7 Deny: no notes Track 8 London's Burning: Fuck this track holy shit. Track 9 Career Opportunities: Again 10/10 intro, and then the vocals come in. Overall a bop Track 10 Cheat: Some one found the panning slider on the mix deck holy shit. Track 11 Protex Blue: why is the guitar only on my left side. huh bad audio tech no cookie for you. Track 12 Police & Thieves: The more things change the more they stay the same... Also tho what the fuck. average track length 2 min then this 6 min track comes in, holy hell. Track 13 48 Hours: Track 14 Garageland: "in the garage again with by bullshit detector" great line. I dont want to know what the rich are doing. Also love that.

What is the overall style and genre of the album? Rap. Again dont know genres well Are there any standout tracks or moments that resonated with you? Dark Fantasy and Monster were great, last track was great too. I always like when they save a good one to close an album. Bookending it like that always feels great. HATED blame game, even if that skit was funny (it wasnt) it went on for waaayyy too long. How did the album make you feel? Did it evoke specific emotions? Little bit of nostalgia. This album was big when I was in HS. Made me think of those days. Did you enjoy listening to the album overall? I did, few songs dragged. I would listen to it again. Probably would let myself skip a few tracks second time through though. Would you recommend this album to others? Who might particularly enjoy it? Yeah. Again I wouldnt be like check out this very famous album from 2014 but if someone said "I know nothing about Kanye is this album worth listening to Id say yeah. Misc Notes Best track: monster or dark fantasy Best line: too many Urkles on your team that’s why your wins low. Worst track: blame game what the fuck was that long ass skit with Chris rock? That sucked.

Mothership Connection by Parliament

What is the overall style and genre of the album? Disco/ funk/ concept Are there any standout tracks or moments that resonated with you? The album was great but it was very one note to me. I was smiling wide during the intro on the first track. Whole thing had me moving in my seat. But there wasn’t a single money that was standout for me. How did the album make you feel? Did it evoke specific emotions? Happy:giddy, I love a concept/character. Funk aliens is a fucking awesome concept and it lowered my guard to enjoy music that I normally wouldn’t. Did you enjoy listening to the album overall? Yes i did. It was a good time. Would you recommend this album to others? Who might particularly enjoy it? I would next time I’m having a party I might toss this on in the background. It was a good time. Not something for active thoughtful listening but just vibe-ing to.

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
May 22 2023

What is the overall style and genre of the album? Country isnt right but rock and folk dont get the vibe either. Are there any standout tracks or moments that resonated with you? no it was just kinda good How did the album make you feel? Did it evoke specific emotions? None in particular Did you enjoy listening to the album overall? Yes Would you recommend this album to others? Who might particularly enjoy it? No I dont think so.

Transformer by Lou Reed
May 23 2023

For me, it was a forgettable album. The notable exception was take a walk on the wild side glass track. I like that one overall two out of five.

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
May 24 2023

What is the overall style and genre of the album? Folk acoustic Are there any standout tracks or moments that resonated with you? Mrs. Robinson How did the album make you feel? Did it evoke specific emotions? Nostalgia, I used to listen to sounds of silence and the greatest hits album all the time as a kid Did you enjoy listening to the album overall? I did. I think its a good album, the best on the list so far. Would you recommend this album to others? Who might particularly enjoy it? I like this album and I would recommend it to people who have only hear sounds of silence and want more S&G. Notes: Mrs Robinson is a banger and I love me some Simon and Garfunkel Rest of the album is good but forgettable. I couldnt name any of the other tracks.

I really liked the title track and if I die tonight. I really appreciated the intro context growing up. I knew there was some thing that went on with 2Pac and biggie but I didn’t really know much other than that intro truck coverage talking about 2Pac checking him self out of the hospital a day after getting shot really helps at the tone for the rest of the album, I like the beats a lot seems like it’s more of an inside album. The B-side is not as good. I was closing out strong with outlaw, fast track on the album the against the world first track on the album. Can you get away overall three out of five. Well I was going to this album again no. I might listen to a couple of the tracks again.

Low by David Bowie

Queen II by Queen

Good album 3/5 won’t listen again wouldn’t turn it off if it came on.

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
Jun 06 2023

Holy shit bad meets evil is fucking awesome. Overall a really good album. I know being offensive and punching down is part of Eminem’s brand but there are a lot of lyrics and skits that hit really wrong listening in 2023. Still a good album but there are a couple of weak tracks and some lyrics that bring down otherwise great songs.

Future Days by Can
Jun 07 2023

20 minutes for one track is fucking obscene and inexcusable.

Lam Toro by Baaba Maal
Jun 09 2023

Not for me.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Jun 12 2023

If I’m being fair this album is a 3 it’s not bad and just because it was a big part of my youth doesn’t make it good. Scratch the itch sucked

Rid Of Me by PJ Harvey
Jun 14 2023

very fun track 1 was great. will probably listen again.

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Jun 15 2023

Wow I didn’t like this. Something very emotionally taxing about any song over 6 min long. I’m just not a big jazz fan to boot

Mask by Bauhaus
Jun 16 2023
1984 by Van Halen
Jul 13 2023

5/5 this is a great album. Jump is by far my favorite track on the album but obviously hot for teacher is no slouch either. Top Jimmy is the weakest track on the album. I will be listening to this again. I've definitely slept on Van Halen up till now.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Jul 14 2023
Heroes by David Bowie
Feb 19 2024

I really have been disappointed with Bowie, this is the 2nd or 3rd album that I've listened to and I really havent enjoyed them much. Too many long instrumental sections/ tracks. He has such a great voice I dont want to listen to a long repetitive section to get to it. Title track was the standout on the album. I will listen again and see if my opinion changes, I was working on my car when listening and I wonder if that was not the attentive listening situation needed to enjoy the album.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Feb 20 2024

Loved it, didn’t know I already knew some of these songs. B side weaker. Will listen again

The Colour Of Spring by Talk Talk
Feb 21 2024

Very positive like hopecore the album. A good spring album. Didn’t like the children singing backup though

The Undertones by The Undertones
Feb 23 2024

Fine, song of the summer was fun and male model was fun. Probably wouldn’t re-listen to the rest of the album

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Mar 05 2024

I didn’t like it, but I hated it less than I thought I was gonna hate it second-half of the album was definitely stronger than the first
