1001 Albums Summary

Always had it in the indie landfills category. I think it inspired a lot of echoey indie pop bands. It was ok

I enjoyed most of it. Quite varied

Really experimental and challenging but enjoyable and a great choice for the list.

Cool album, cool backstory, great choice for the list. At times it sounded like Dylan without the harmonica, what an upgrade!

Not my style at all. It didn’t connect with it. It sounded like a lot of other punk albums to me

It was like country but on holiday. The cover is appropriate

Really interesting album. It was like hardcore math rock. It was annoying at times but a good choice for the list

I do love this album. I never saw it as pop punk, more like power pop with 80s metal influences. The little break in buddy holly is the definition of musical ecstasy. Every song is so fun to sing along with.

A decent pop rock album, a bit like REM

Just put the best of pink Floyd, I could get through this. They have decent songs but none of these versions are better than the album

I’m not a fan of the genre, it lacks variety for me.

I struggled with this one, it wasn’t for me

It was a nice enough album which I hadn’t heard before. I’ve heard two of their earlier albums which I think have stronger songs

I appreciate REM are good, I just can’t listen to them, it reminds me too much of my childhood even though it wasn’t bad

Some of the tracks are ok at times, but overall it was very cheesy

It had some cool moments. It reminded me of a newer band called goat.

I’ve heard their other more popular albums but not this. I much preferred it. Really cool and interesting sound

It was a bit overblown for me

It was a really fun album, ridiculous at times but good. I will be looking into their other stuff

I hated the band name, I hated the album name, I hated the album cover, I hated the genre, I hated the songs, I hated the fact that it was an EP not an album

It was dramatic but left me feeling quite empty. I’m sure it was a soundtrack to someone’s youth but there wasn’t much there for me

That was really quite bad, extremely long, and whoever produced the snare sound should be shot. The sound of gunfire would be better than that snare

Nice production but I wouldn’t listen again

Was going to say I was supposed to see the album by the knife without their one hit on it but it actually does have one hit. It was Björk like but too many duds

I’ve heard this band and seen them live but never listened to them regularly. I liked the other album with Pontiac on it, which I’d say is prob better than this one. The lead singer is a great front man, really nice voice and lyrics , and fun to watch live. This was a nice reminder of this band.

If it’s power pop from 79 and I’ve not heard of them it’s gonna be up my street

Avoided them at the time but it was a fun and surprisingly deep album

I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. I liked the dilla beat on one of them. But yeah it was very annoying pop

Ok I didn’t like it, it was proto john Mayer. I can’t say it was bad

I like portishead but hadn’t heard this one. The vocals grated on me quite a lot. I didn’t like it as much as the other albums

Decent rock album. The snare sound is unhinged

I actually get why a live album would be on the list. But it wore a bit thin after half way

Despite hating the band name I have to give this a 5. It is a very interesting and varied album. There is an indescribable arty magic about it. It’s too long though

I liked it a lot for a first listen, very 2000s which made me nostalgic.

If time out and kind of blue are on the list then this should be. The list should’ve limited its scope to certain genres.

Sounded like a mixture of modest mouse and pulp, I’m not a big fan of either
