Ocean Avenue by Yellowcard
Sep 30 2026

Very fun album. It's like stepping out of a time capsule. Listening to this album just feels like being in high school again. You can feel that teenage angst without it being too edgy or weird. I really appreciate the violin mixed in to give it more identity than your standard pop punk album going around at the time.

Haus der Lüge by Einstürzende Neubauten

I just don't think German industrial rock is my thing. Even if this one is clearly more listenable that the one on the original list.

Okonokos by My Morning Jacket
Oct 02 2026

I'm not a big fan of live albums and the 2 hour run time definitely made it hard to get behind this one. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable discovery.

Give Up by The Postal Service
Oct 03 2026

This reminded a lot of Owl City. Indietronica is not a subgenre I took much interest in back in the early 2000s but this Postal Service album is proving that maybe I should revisit that. I enjoyed this listen quite a bit. The story about the production is interesting. Definitely gives the album an extra layer of character.

I've become a massive Denzel Curry fan the last few years. This album is so good and I can put it on no matter whether I'm in a chill mood or need to get hyped which is a unique quality.

"Awaken, My Love!" by Childish Gambino
Oct 05 2026

Seeing as this album was in high contention for albums I wanted to submit before seeing it was already submitted, it is an easy 5/5 for me. This album is one of the first examples in my life where I witnessed an artist that I love do a complete 180 stylistically and end up liking it even more than their original sound. Gambino's hip hop albums are phenomenal too but this one scratches an itch I didn't know existed and it's an album I frequently go back to.

Cleopatra by The Lumineers

Nice folk album. It was a bit monotone but on the whole, pleasant.

Telefone by Noname
Oct 07 2026

What a lovely album. Short and sweet. I enjoyed Noname's soft delivery and personal feel. It reminded me of a Jill Scott Heron album that came out this year that I also really enjoyed.

Spirit of Eden by Talk Talk
Oct 08 2026

This album was too slow for my tastes. It did start to pick up about halfway through and I thought, finally something I can get into. Then it slowed right back down

Oct 09 2026

I'm not sure where I land on Power Corruption and Lies. I generally like genre blending but in this case it's a lot of genres I'm not particularly into. This left me with a mixed feeling of intrigue and indifference.

Bob Mould by Bob Mould
Oct 11 2026

Fairly bland rock music if I'm being honest. Very listenable but not much is standing out to me here.

Magnolia Electric Co. by Songs: Ohia
Oct 13 2026

Magnolia Electric Co. is feeling very Neil Young coded to me today. Which if you look at my summary page, would seem like a bad thing. However, it was like listening to Neil Young without the Kermit the Frog voice which as it turns out, is pretty pleasant. I do feel like the run time is pretty long for an album this slow. But I listened to it at work today and had 8 hours to kill, so I can forgive it.

Quebec by Ween
Oct 14 2026

It's funny, Spotify has been trying to recommend me this album for months. I keep seeing the album art and getting intrigued but never bite. I guess today is the day I check out Ween. The first thing that stands out to me is the sheer variety of sounds and styles. Both in music composition but also vocally. I don't know if they have a variety of singers or if the singer just has a bunch of range. I'm feeling like this album has just the perfect level of weird for it to become a mainstay in my rotation. Reminds me of a Talking Heads album. Loved it.

METAL FORTH by BABYMETAL
Oct 15 2026

This is a great addition because it's so unique. I think BABYMETAL truly is something every music fan should hear at least once. I remember the first time I heard BABYMETAL, I had mixed feelings because it is such an oxymoron. Japanese pop and heavy metal are very opposing sounds both stylistically and vocally. To blend them is something that most people I think will either love or hate. Personally, I'm a fan. While I think it can feel cheesy at times, it does land well and these girls kick ass.
