Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music
Ray CharlesFirst time really listening to any soul music. It was beautiful and calming, but not quite my taste. Possibly would enjoy more without a house of young screaming kids.

Hard to hear some tracks on the interstate, but I'm a fan of tracks that slow build. It seems like the first 3-4 tracks were the best. Enjoyable album, surprised I never heard of them before with how much classic rock I heard growing up.
This album would have blown my mind if I were alive at its release. I really enjoyed it. 4 stars because I simply am not likely to listen to it on my own, but would absolutely jam out to this album if somebody else put it on.
This album has the iconic 1980 sound to it. It's just not my cup of tea, although I do realize the social impact that the 80s had. I might have enjoyed this album at release, probably at a club or something, but just me sitting down to listen I don't think I could have done it if it weren't for this website.
Reminds me of my childhood. Nice balance of fast pace and slow melody. Enjoyable, and now I'm listening to classic rock again of my own free will.
I thought I would like folk rock, but it felt a bit too folky. A lot of the tracks were so mellow that I thought it could be waiting room music. However, it was mostly enjoyable but I would never put it on for myself.
This was hard to listen to. It didn't seem to fit into any genre or sub genre that I enjoy.
This was a bit too progressive for me. Perhaps there will be a time in life when this album can make a personal connection for me.. but the vocals really make it tough. However, I can recognize that the music is interesting and progressive for the era.
One of the greatest albums of all time. I would have lost my shit hearing this live back in the day. I went to a Boston concert in 2014 and it was incredible.
Pretty solid album, enjoyed it much more than I expected.
I can see how this is a pivotal influence on the growth of rock n roll.. but the 50s sound just isn't for me. I can listen to it if somebody puts it on, but I'm not going to seek it out.
I might be wrong, but it makes sense to me that this album helped define the West Coast sound. Feels very much like a GTA tracklist. I'm not big into rap, though, but this was good enough.
My Mom was obsessed with Rod Stewart while I was growing up. I'm not sure if that is biasing me here, but this album felt pretty nice. Again, I wouldn't seek it out on my own but it was pretty enjoyable.
Too much electronic/EDM style for me. I'm sure this is awesome at a club, but I don't go to clubs so I'll never listen to this again.
Pretty solid. I've never been much of a Beatles guy, but mostly because I've never really listened to them. This album still had a touch of the 50s rock sound that I'm not a big fan of, but it was still pretty good.
This is probably a great album to listen to while stoned. I enjoyed it more than I expected.
Solid album - almost my cup of tea, but I can't quite explain why I can't fully get into this album.
Wow... well that was something.
It was a nice album to relax to. It had some nice vibes, but I'm not sure when I would ever seek it out.
I can see why this album and Jimi was so popular. It's a refreshing change to the simplistic music of the Beatles.
Very enjoyable and I can feel the influence the Pixies had on alternative rock.
Another album that I can recognize as being "Good", but just isn't my taste. I wouldn't mind listening to this but I'll never seek it out. The dude has a nice voice, though.
Imagine is a great song.. the rest of it just seemed way too mellow to really enjoy.
Relaxing music, but not my field of interest.
Reminds me of my childhood. A bit too much flare on the electric guitar for my taste, but overall a fairly enjoyable album and I can imagine in the 70s that it was a very catchy new sound.
Not my style at all but what a powerful and beautiful voice.
Definitely not a fan of 90s rap.
I had no idea the Bee Gees had such a breadth of styles and sounds. Very enjoyable.
I wanted to like this. The music is solid, but man, the singers voice is just grating.
This is not my jam.
I can appreciate folk rock, but maybe not so far back as the 60s folk rock. Not the worst music to listen to, but Graceland was alright. Everything else sounded like lots of Tuba and a boring voice.
Enjoyable, some nice rhythm, but not quite my taste. I could listen for extended periods of time, though.
Definitely not my usual style, but I found it oddly soothing and chill. Not bad at all.
Not a big fan of rap, but this feels smoother than most 90s rap I've heard.
I didn't expect Green Day to sound so... not punk. Pretty solid album, though!
I wanted to like this a little bit more, but it just didn't seem to have the tempo for me.
Super good album. The piano and her voice together are magic.
That was an interesting album. A bit too far out there for me, but there were a few moments that felt nice.
Man, it only took a few seconds to know that the vocals are not for me. The music is already rough and grating, why the voice, too? The vocals did get slightly better after track one, but still.. way too much vibrato here.
Yeah I'm not into electronic or techno at all. I prefer people who physically play an instrument in their hands. Literally anybody can make some weird electronic sound on their phone or PC. Not to downplay their success or whatever, but this aint it, boss.
I can appreciate musicians who master their instruments. My grandparents also listened to a lot of Jazz (Dixieland Jazz) so I'm used to a similar vein of music to this. We would go to Sacramento every May for a Jazz festival. I wish they were still here.
I would probably rate higher if I could understand the lyrics. Fairly enjoyable, though. It has a nice classic rock feel to it. Made me think of ZZ top.
Given that I don't really enjoy too much rap.. this strange concept hip-hop rap just doesnt do it for me. Cool idea, though, for the most part.
It wasn't enjoyable enough to notice in playing in the background while I work, but it wasn't so bad that I wanted to change it. I don't think it deserves a 3, but also not a 4. Time to flip a coin.
