The Cars
The CarsSounds like the very definition of american FM rock. Kinda sounds bland to me.

I hate this song Allergies, I think it's ridiculous. The 80s synth instrumentation kills me. I'm reminded of what I don't like about Paul Simon, the lyrics that go nowhere (in my opinion) except to a rhyme or pun. I don't feel a deep meaning, despite the songs hinting to it. No, Paul, in this case, you did not think too much.
Love love this album. Lyrics, music, Thom's voice. Arpegios
A little boring, nice plucky guitar, soft voice. Not really grabbed by the melody, some words stand out, but not something I'd want to listen to again. Sorry Nick Drake, this album is not my cup of tea.
I prefer early Elvis to this. Here his voice is heavy, lacks energy, in my opinion. Instrumentation is more R&B and less rock.
Groovy
Love it
seems a little adolescent on the drumming style, so cooky. Guitars are pretty classic. Everyhting sounds artificially sped up... like a parody
I like the musical style of this era. I had an incorrect preconception of this band. They are very much a band of the 60-70s, very much talks about human alienation, degradation of mental health in the modern world, loneliness, fear of the bomb and war.
Confusing and not very interesting to me
so nice
Really not into this disco stuff. The words are boring and cliché to me as well. The videos are awful, they make me think that the whole point of feminism for the women of Abba was in order to me able to go shopping and buy kooky outfits.
Did not like this one, made me think about how men of this era were telling yourg women to "feel their feelings", meaning let yourself get sexual, knowing that women were the only losers in the case of sexual relations: risk getting labeled a slut, risk stds, risk getting pregnant; while the young man gets no blame, can pretend the child is not his, can rely on the woman being ashamed and not outing his behavior.
This group was popular when I was young, but I never really caught on. Listening to it, now, I'm even less impressed. It sounds like college kids trying to be rebellious or moody or rock. Not very genuine nor melodic.
I liked the Jesus Walks song, but otherwise I'm not a fan of Kanye.
can't listen to it
Do not like his singing style, the band sounds ok

Too abstract for an enjoyable experience for me.
Not my cup of tea. She has a nice voice but I don't relate to it personnally. I don't like this style of talk-singing song style.
I hate it.
The first piece starts with that mellow, delicious guitar, heavenly. The singing on the first Motherless children lacks vivacity to me, but the music is great. Apparently these are covers. I don't like the "Give me strength" piece that is too country for my taste. A little boring.
Blueberry hill is great, but a lot of these are very formulaic. Smooth, especially like the brass section.
Some is fun, some is joke-rhymes, some is sexist foolery. Very smooth, but not my jam.
I especially appreciate the bass in these songs, and the urgency and tightness of the playing. The drums are really fire. I don't really like the voice of the singer, and the completely (to me) unintelligible lyrics. I don't understand the album title. Singing is too fast I think.

Did not know this singer, a really nice discovery!

OK, but not super fun
