1001 Albums Summary

Geddy Lee singing anything above a normal volume is irritating. I’m mostly listening to these albums for the lyrical content so Rush’s appeal is probably lost on me. A 20 minute song about some hacky sci-fi story? Hard pass although I hate fascists like anyone else (most people?). The last song was prolly the best on the album

My opinion of this album hinges on the definition of “cinnamon girl” - I’m finding different info online. Is that a particular ethnicity or is a cinnamon girl an exciting, idealized woman of no particular ethnicity? If it’s a particular ethnicity then that’s lame and I’m not a fan. If thats not a racial thing then it’s a fine song and doesn’t taint the album

Learned a bit by Googling these songs this time around. Found better versions of Corrina, Corrina by southern blues musicians (written by Mississippi Sheiks but that one isnt on Spotify) - and learned about walking blues songs - listened to leadbelly and woody Guthrie versions. Still classic album

Not bad - I don’t think this one has aged badly. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy it
