Back At The Chicken Shack
Jimmy SmithVery organ-forward, good horns. Straight forward jazz. Good organ soloing on 'Minor Chant'. Nice guitar/organ combo on 'Messie Bessie'.

Great listen; "The Overload" had Joy Division undertones. Dry guitars, great rhythm construction.
Fantastic album! No further notes-beautiful production and arrangements.
Always amazing...
Great proto-R & B album!
Equal parts Bowie/Beatles rip-off with passable blues guitar work...
Just okay--had higher (unreasonble?) expectations. Perhaps too ubiquitous in its influence.
Great album-stunning return to form!
Not a fan of the retro-vocal forward style of singing. Its clear she has talent and access to top producers. Just didn't move me, personally.
Great album-becoming more and more a fan of this era of "less-filler" albums...
Upbeat, bluesy rock...nice vocals. Interesting arrangements...
amazing stuff
Incredible, much heavier than I remember...
Quintessential jangly 90's pop...shades of the Smiths in some of the vocals
Great debut album, except it drags a bit at the end. Vital talent though!
Pleasantly surprised...definitely enjoyed this!
It's Bob ****in Mould!
Daring and recognizable, all in one stroke!
Excellent stuff-good bridge between older and newer sensibilities.
Great album that loses a bit of steam at the end.
Peak-ish Stones
Great interplay between the band members...did not know that 'Black Magic Woman' was a cover!
Great album that has aged well!
Liked it but perhaps didn't know it as well as the listening covered...
Classic stuff-can't get enough of this album!
Classic G-Funk, an all-time debut album.
Confident album...overall much appreciated.
Sublime album.
Great album-tastes of punk, rock, ska and a great vocalist in Chrissie Hynde!
Quite the album-Bowie-esque vocals and great keyboards. The Diana Ross cover is *chef's kiss*
Not for me, I guess? Talented artist I couldn't connect with in one listen.
Great debut album-nearly at the height of their powers already.
What a great debut album-much props to Dan the Automator and Albarn!
More interesting than I was expecting! Drums high in the mix were Joy Division-esque at time, liked the sax/horns.
