Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jan 08 2024

Dreary. The mix seemed so muddy.

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Jan 09 2024

Amazing upbeat vibes. Some classics I recognised but all the songs were banging.

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell
Jan 10 2024

Adorable but not to my tastes. Didn't recognise a single song. Sometimes felt like more like poetry than music. I'm sure I'll never listen to any of these songs again

Boston by Boston
Jan 11 2024

First song is overly familiar making it feel kind of rote. Second song was pretty good but after that it really started to get tedious. I think having Foreplay / Long Time as the third track really killed the momentum of the whole album. Finding all the songs very basic. Not bad just meh. Very radio friendly.

Aja by Steely Dan
Jan 12 2024

* Very light, smooth, music to go to sleep to. * Definitely not my kind of music generally but maybe if I was in the right mood. I always wanted to get into jazz but maybe it's just not for me if this is one of the greatest albums ever. * The longer I listen the more I think I could be into this. Maybe I'm getting old * OK that's where that De La Soul sample comes from Every song I'm thinking "OK this is not for me" and then 2 minutes in I change to "This solo is banging" and the song gets an extra star or two but overall it's only going to hit my infrequent rotation list.

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Jan 15 2024

It's funny how much I was not into this in the first 30 seconds and how much I really enjoyed it by the end. I'm definitely not a piano music guy but if you were to tell me this is thre greatest piano album of all time I'd have to believe you because it was pretty good.

Jan 16 2024

Not that surprising that I loved this album. Not a common genre for me at all but it's so upbeat I just loved it.

Raw Like Sushi by Neneh Cherry
Jan 17 2024

I was a teenager when this came out and I hated it then because I was too cool for this pop dross. Now I'm an adult and suitably embarrased about my musical neophyte opinions from 25 years ago. That said I still hate it but for the terrible Blondie-quality rapping and the plonky plonky music which is absolutely not my style. Only song I could kinda enjoy was Kisses on the Wind. Buffalo Stance gets an extra point for nostalgia but it's not actually good.

Songs The Lord Taught Us by The Cramps
Jan 18 2024

No this wasn't for me at all. I'd be pretty annoyed if I had to listen to this again.

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Jan 19 2024

It was funny listening to this after The Cramps. I guess I'm just not into that kind of mega punk aesthetic but just a little bit of punk is pretty good.

Homework by Daft Punk
Jan 23 2024

I really enjoyed this although I wouldn't call it earth shattering. Maybe it was innovative to the pop crowd of 97 but it does feel a bit generic now.

Jan 24 2024

This is more what I was hoping to get from 1001. Amazing albums outside my usual queue. I've heard a few Bragg songs in the past and generally found them agreeable. There were several great songs here but it did drag on a bit after a while with the samey sound.

The Clash by The Clash
Jan 25 2024

Incredible. I'm not a huge Punk fan but I need to change that because this blew my hair back. So powerful, the lyrics, the music, everything so strong.

OK by Talvin Singh

Blackstar by David Bowie
Apr 10 2025

I hated everything about this. I honestly never want to hear a song off this album again. Bowie's voice, the jumbley jazzy music that tries its hardest to avoid any kind of rhythm. The dreary tone of every single track. It's the direct opposite of everything I want in an album. My highest rated song was 'Tis a Pity She Was a Whore which got 2 stars.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Apr 14 2025

I'm in this weird situation where I know I hate Radiohead but on the other hand I can't recall listening to any of their songs ever. After listening to this I remember why. The tracks are all so jumbled and incoherent. The singing voice is... really something. I'm sure some people like it but this is absolutely not for me. I'm sure I won't remember a single track by tomorrow and I'll be unclear why I hate Radiohead again within 3 years.

Parklife by Blur
Apr 18 2025

I thought I liked Blur but apart from the two big hits I found this pretty mid.

Van Halen by Van Halen
Apr 21 2025

Not to my tastes

This was either great or terrible. Definitely glad I listened to it but I doubt I ever will again. The second half gets slightly more listenable but the first half is really... something.
