Zombie by Fela Kuti
Jan 08 2024

Immediately made me think of Donald Glovers Guave Island after reading the reviews and the political message around it. Fela Kuti. Would love to hear this live. Also interested on why the songs were so long? Is this the music genre? Still the length of an album just much longer in terms of songs.

Elephant by The White Stripes

I feel like my understanding is tainted because of Seven Nation Army. Excited to listen to the rest. It’s solid. I wasn’t in love though? I just never got hooked. Loved “In The Cold, Cold Night.” I thought it was going to be a turning point in the album in terms of sound. Seven Nation Army was THE song for a reason. But I did find some appreciation in other songs. All in all, it didnt speak to me but very much can appreciate the music itself.

Slow start for me on this one with the first song. It got better as it went on. Had no idea this where It's the End of World came from.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jan 11 2024

Loved Changes. FX put me in a bad mood. Snowblind goes crazy. Album grew on me, but still not my style of music. I think I'd need to be listening to this outside on a speaker. End riff on Under the Sun made it a 3. I wanted more of that throughout.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads

"Drawing influence from Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, they experimented with African polyrhythms, funk, and electronics, recording instrumental tracks as a series of looping grooves" MY BOY! You can completely hear it in the first song... and maybe some of the vocals? First song left me confused on where this album is going. Super funky but also has some instrumentation that is very surprising. Once In A Lifetime is on this album??????? Love the artwork of the album. I think best album cover so far. Album slowed down for me at song 5. Best songs: Born Under Punches, Once In A Lifetime Would I listen again?: Speaker garage type of listen.

Frank by Amy Winehouse

Youre kidding me. Song 2 and I am absolutely blown away. The clearness of the voice, the complexity of the lyrics, the simplicity. I feel like it has aged fantastically. Feels like I should have this on at a dinner party. Favorite Songs: You Sent Me Flying/Cherry, There is No Greater Love I’m not sure what could make this a 5.

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Jan 16 2024

Not a big fan of some of the vocals. I think the music is fantastic. Sunshine of Your Love is Cream??? I didn’t love it? I just wanted it to rock harder.

Oedipus Schmoedipus by Barry Adamson
Jan 17 2024

Oooff. Yeah I would have turned this album off if I wasnt trying to listen to the whole thing. I understand the move sound track idea, but this doesn't have anything interesting or strong to me to be next to these other albums. Feels like background music.

I didn’t listen to much of it. It’s just not for me. Got 3 songs in. Maybe a performance would be cool?

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Jan 22 2024

Loved "I Should Have Known Better" Why do they kind of sound like Spongebob songs? I didnt mind in though.

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Jan 23 2024

Listening when I work out. It went HARD. Reminds me of Tod. This is what would I could playing in the Grange garage during the summer. Or like Tony Pro Skater 3. It must’ve been a choice to sound away from the mic? Maybe it made them sound better than they were. But I wish it was just a bit clearer. Maybe it would have been cheesy if it wasn’t presented as it was. The Sure Shot vinyl scratch went hard. That’s when I leaned in. Sabotage still goes so crazy. Replace all Seven Nation Army song uses with Sabotage.

Songs From A Room by Leonard Cohen
Jan 25 2024

Great vibe for a tv show. Not for my listening though. I hopped around.

Jan 26 2024

For this to come out in 1996 kind of blows my expectations of music timeline? Andy loves these 15 minute songs but didn’t like Fela Kuti…. Hmm…. I’d love this in a bar. I liked Stagger a lot.

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Jan 29 2024

Scale Rating: 3 Standouts: One Foot Notes: Album started off hot for me. I enjoyed for than I thought I would. So much better than Underworld but I expected it to sound like Underworld. I loved how clear it was from a vocal standpoint. These lengths of songs. Cut 2 minutes off each and that would probably have rated it higher for me. Would I Listen Again: songs but not the a project front to back, garage album Album Cover Rating: (1-5) 2 Album Name Rating: (1-5) 3
