Has my body is a cage. Could have just released this and gone the fuck home.
Excellent
5 out of 5. Reminds of The Muppet Show for some reason.
It was a smiths album really good.
I did have to fastfoward this a little juuuust to make sure it wasn't just a bunch of random noise, but it transitioned into a very diggable beat and just for a moment I am reminded of the song Jungle Walk by Asterix. Then it went into some very diggable jazzy rock. Quite nice. I like em. Not sure why they are on the list without more historical context. Good enough I played them while I worked around the house and noticed when the next album came on. Solid 3.5-4. Will listen to some other Can. Which is why I'm here
4 songs hmm. It's either going to be fire, a hot mess, and/or amazingly pretentious. 1st song. Funky bass line, foghorn, harpsicord noise, all in a minute and 30 seconds... double hmm. But the melody is quite nice. New phrase to mutter to myself while puttering around the house just dropped "let's get cool in the pool". 2nd song is pretty good. Nice nice nice. I can groove to this. Shit he is "singing." Interesting. He is bringing in movie lines like a turntablis. I wonder when this was first done in music. He is splicing the movie audio as a vocal component. Dammit he keeps "singing". Second song is better Third song is better still. Reminds me of turntables hip hop but rock. Lots of mixed in sound, movie dialogue, etc. Found out this guy was in Can the German prog rock band and the last album I reviewed. Solid 3 out 5. Liked it enough to search out his and Can's other work and is definitely worth a listen to.
Nice. Very poppy. Lyrics are clever and are actually lyrics unlike so many pop lyrics which are just the same few phrases or words over and over. For some reason a few of the songs reminds me of smashmouths second album astrolounge. High energy songs. Pulls inspiration from a broad range of pop and rock. Let me entertain you is definitely going on the short list of songs to be played over the PA as I hunt down those who have wronged me. A fine pop album. 3/5. I'll definitely listen to more of his stuff
Big fan of the kinks now
Excellent lyrics
Not sure why this on this list to be honest. Is it good. Yes . Is it amazeballs. No. You could play this amongst any mid60s to 70s American songwriting and I wouldn't be able to pick it out. It's like a good meal at an airport. 2/5. Well executed but Forgettable
Really great rock album. Closer to 4 than 5 and closer to 4 than 3.
One of those bands I have heard of mentioned and referenced but never listened too. Bouncy positive first song. Very different song number 2. These guys are from the UK and the 91 shows a lot of influence that goes into that era. Electronic beats, Indian instrumentals, reminds me of the Bristol sound and related movements. Wide breadth of musical styles on one album. Definitely digging it. Yeah going to definitely listen to more of these guys. Definitely talented. Broad range of style. Me gusta.
Not really for me. I actually listened to this album 2.5 times. First time was mostly me skipping through the songs half way. Then I went and read up on the artist and how critically acclaimed and popular he is. I don't see it. Mostly sad Boi acoustic alt rock for sad bois. 2/5 because there was at least one song that was pretty good There were a couple of songs that connected like Between The Bars but overall just didn't hit my heart.
Genius song writing punctuated by 7 minutes of the repetitive rhyming babel
I am a fan of metal so I will try and temper my review of one of the albums I have listened too the most. Though I prefer their earlier thrash sound. For those who don't know the overall sound of the album was it's most controversial aspect as it marked Metallica and Metal's movement into the mainstream. The first song enter sandman becoming a major hit on the radio as a single. Personally This album also important because it gave rise to a conversation with an old guitarist that explained why I like surf rock and metal so much. If you play metal without the distortion and effects it sounds pretty close to surf rock.
Pretty dang good. Definitely an alt country kinda thing going on. I'll come back for another listen when my mood is better suited to it. A bit melancholy for my tastes but overall quite well written
Energetic. Amazing. Will listen to his entire discography.
All the instrumental sounds of Midwest emo as played by a punk band. I have heard worst. 2 stars because album art was on point
Love that funk. Live a themed album.
You ever see someone who you know didn't just sell out but concentrated so hard on selling out they turned it into their career? He has real talent and isn't using it. Good for him on getting that bag though
I really liked this. Definitely going to listen to more tom Tom club.
I like Korn. This is my least favorite Korn album.
5 out of 5 no notes.
