Big BlackNever heard of this band or any of these songs...probably never will again. Fists of Love had a cool groove to it ... minus the lyrics.

The opening song Five Years tells of a world that has just received the information that the world is going to be destroyed in 5 years. What a beginning. Really set's the tone for the rest of the album. I had not heard Moonage Daydream before but I really liked it, especially the guitar solor at the end. Starman along with Ziggy Stardyst and Suffragette City are some of Bowie's best. It Aint Easy is a hidden gem. This album was a delightful suprise. I will be listening again.
This album from 1969 is a typical Rolling Stones album 7 average to good songs and 2 super hits (Gimme Shelter and You Can't Always Get What You Want).
This Harry Nilsson album was released in late 1971 and leads off with Gotta Get Up (which sounded like it could have been the theme song from a TV show). The next 4 songs were ok but then next the Grammy winning Without You jumps out at you and reminds you that yes, you have heard this song...many times before, if you are from that era. Great song. The next few songs (Coconut and Let The Good Times Roll) are very recognizable songs from the past. This album was Grammy nominated for Album of the Year in 1973. Great album - 4 stars.
Classic 60's sound. Love California Dreaming and recognized a few others, several being covers of other bands. I give it 3 stars.
This album has some deep topics and a different way of discussing them. I am not a rap fan but this album has some cred.
I was only 6 years old when this album came out. I have heard some of these songs throughout the years but have never owned or listened to this album...my mistake. This is a good album chocked full of good songs. This album still holds the record for most consecutive weeks at number one by a female solo artist.
Never been a huge Bob Marley fan but I am familiar with several songs off this album. Glad I listened to it. Definitely had an upbeat reggae vibe. I dare you to listen and not smile.
I remember several of these songs, being an ELO fan since my teens. Not my favorite of their albums but a good second or third place.
One of the best "first albums" by any rock band. Yes, there is a cover song (You Really Got Me) but it is as rememberable as the Kinks original.
For my tastes, the album was ok. Pump It up was the most memorable song. Would I listen to it again, probably not.
I like some of Nirvana's songs, but this album only had 2 songs I would ever want to hear again in my life (Heary Shaped Box, All Apologies). There were no stories told, only 45 minutes spent inside the tormented brain of Kurt Cobain.
I am not a huge fan of "Big Band" music but I will give credit to the recording and musician-ship of the band. There were lots of solos spread across this album, piano, upright bass, trumpet, sax, trombone, clarinet, drum, and even a xylophone and bells. Just felt like something was missing .... oh yeah, lyrics.
Did not listen to much. Sorry, just not my thing.
Had never heard of Elbow before so I had no idea what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. This was a solid album. Kind of like listening to Peter Gabriel (solo works). Grounds For Divorce - 2 thumbs up.
This is a solid album from Bruce. It has 2 hit singles released from it (Born To Run and 10th Avenue Freeze-Out) but there are 6 other songs on the album, all worth a listen. Bruce is a great story teller and paints a cinematic picture with each song.
The Isley Brothers 3+3 album is a solid album from the late 70's disco era, full of good songs. What jumps out at me is the solid guitar playing and solos, wow! I have never listened to an Isley Brothers album but I can say that I have heard 4 of these songs before. Really good album!
This album by the Sex Pistols was a pleasant surprise. I am not a big Punk Rock fan but I have heard of the Sex Pistols. However, I never really listened to them back in the day. Still not a favorite but better than expected.
Solid funk/soul music from the late 60's. I recognize several of these songs. Everyday People the most familiar to me. My favorite line "..shady as a lady with a mustache" from Somebody's Watching You. Priceless. Can someone explain the lyrics from Sex Machine please.
My brain is trying to convince me that I have heard of this band before, but I just don't recognize any of the songs. That's not to say that the songs aren't good, in fact I really like them for the most part. A solid 3 stars for me.
I have not listened to this album in its entirety for a very long time but listening now from my perspective as an adult (who appreciates many different kinds of music now), I have a very different appreciation for this work of art. Sting is a lyrical genious, painting picture after picture with each song on this album. This album deserved all the awards and accolades it received. Excellent album !!
This was the first CD I ever bought. It had the new markings of DDD on the liner notes indicating it was produced completely Digital, no analog processes. I love this album. Much like the previous days offering (The Police - Synchronicity), each song tells a story and draws you in as it unfolds. Great mixing as well. You can almost pick out every different instrument that is playing. 5 stars.
I tried but it is just not my thing...
Songs were ok, just not rememberable. My favorites were Black Diamond (Kiss cover) and Unsatisfied and Sixteen Blue.
Of course I am familiar with the mega hits ... Baby One More Time and Crazy, the rest were all new to me but for the most part, solid songs. I liked this album.
This album takes me back to soulful R&B days of the 70s. The title track (Let's Stay together) and How Can You Mend a Broken Heart are very rememberable songs from my past.
Starts out with a post-grunge hard hitter (smells like Nirvana). Dave Grohl, in his post Nirvana days, wrote and recorded all these songs, then went out and put a band together to play them with him. They call themselves the Foo Fighters. This is a pretty good first offering. I am not familiar with any of these songs but they are not bad.
Live albums are usually not my thing but this album did exhibit a good recording quality from the technology available in 1972. The set list did not include one of their bigger hits "Woman From Tokyo" but did include "Highway Star" and of course "Smoke On The Water". Good songs but too many solos and improvisations. 3 stars.
This album is different from what I listen to most of the time. That's not to say it's bad, quite the opposite. If you like Celtic folk music, this will be your thing. I can picture myself walking around Bush Gardens and I hear this music playing (minus the cursing) as I make my way across the Old Country.
Never heard of this band or any of these songs...probably never will again. Fists of Love had a cool groove to it ... minus the lyrics.
This album was just ok. None of their hits I am familiar with were on this album.
Imagine is clearly the best song on here. The other songs are ok but unfamiliar to me.
This album provided a different sound to the list. Nothing like a 13 minute sitar jam session. The 2 cover songs (Jumpin' Jack Flash and Light My Fire) were interesting twists on songs I knew.
Never heard of these guys nor any of these songs before. It was ok but I probably will never listen to it again.
This is a good album...classic 80s sound. Ok course the hits "Our Lips Are Sealed" and "We Got The Beat" lead the charge here but the rest of the songs are respectable as well.
The Queen of Soul comes out swinging with "Chain of Fools" and never let's up. This is a solid album with little filler.
Most recognizable is "Gin and Juice". Some snappy tunes but a little too much swearing for me. "Ain't No Fun" was too vulgar so I shut it down. Game over. 1 Star ... because I can't give zero.
Different....hummm.
Definitely techno. Interesting but became a bit much...over and over.
I have to admit, I am an Abba fan so this music is not foreign to me. I have heard about half of the songs before. I like this album even though my favorite Abba song, S.O.S., is not on this album
If techno-dance-industrial-rock is your thing then this album is for you, otherwise ...
Different sound of rock, not punk, not industrial, not heavy metal, country or disco. In fact, I don't know what I just listened too.
This album has turned out to be better than I was expecting, not ever hearing of them before.
