American Gothic by David Ackles

What the actual f**k is this? Improv very local theater? I think he is making this up as he goes along. Yes, this is improv jazz theater. Thankful this is relatively short at just under 44 minutes (of my life). The last song is 10 minutes!!?? No way. Yet another added to the list of 1001 albums I hope to never hear again.

Soul Mining by The The

A superb album. Butt-shufflin' synth pop gold.

Maybe their 5th best album after Great Escape, Parklife, 13, and Think Tank.

War by U2
Jan 31 2024

A nearly perfect rock album for the ages.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Feb 01 2024

One of the great albums of all time. Go see Peter Hook while you can.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Feb 02 2024

Never listened to this before so appreciated the prompt. Amazing considering when it came out. Just Because and Money Honey were stand outs for me.

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Feb 05 2024

While I love this album, it's not one I go back to with any regularity. Highly innovative and new for when it was released.

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Feb 06 2024

Having not listened to this album in its entirety since the 90's, I enjoyed it more than I expected. That being said, is it among the 1001 albums one must hear before you die? I think probably not.

Never listed to this album before - as a T. Rex fan, I enjoyed it.

Better than I expected - another one I had never listened to in its entirety before. Seems like it could stand a remaster. Lick and a Promise was a standout among the 'deep cuts'.

Soul Mining by The The
Feb 15 2024

A superb album. Butt-shufflin' synth pop gold.

A masterpiece. A band and album too few people know about.

Feb 19 2024

Some crunching guitar rock. Another album I never intentionally listened to straight through before now.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Feb 20 2024

Not a huge Jazz guy but this was great.

Supa Dupa Fly by Missy Elliott
Feb 21 2024

Another first ever listen. Felt like second half was stronger than first. Really good though.

Scissor Sisters by Scissor Sisters
Feb 22 2024

Hating this so far. I could not be happier that I have never heard this Comfortably Numb cover before and hope to never hear it again. Falsetto voice is annoying - forced - trying too hard. Entire album sounds dated. Not standing up to the test of time. Like a poor man's version of Jamiroquai, far less timeless, and with stupid lyrics. I never need to hear this album again. Only three songs left now. I can't wait for this to be over. This should be part of the 1001 albums no one should ever hear again.

British Steel by Judas Priest
Feb 26 2024

Never really into Judas Priest....and still am not. Respect them, just doesn't do it for me.

Imagine by John Lennon
Feb 27 2024

Not the best Beatles solo release (see George), but pretty amazing.

Dog Man Star by Suede
Feb 28 2024

ok first song sucks. second song also not good - hate the horns. song three - overblown, overproduced, don't like this dude's voice. song four - trying different headphones to see if i like this any better. song five - headphones not helping. going to be tough to get through this. song six was tolerable. song nine is emoting me to death. only 5 to go. song 11 - over nine minutes of torture. nothing under 4:20 left. no relief. song 13 - the long version. lucky me. song 14 - just noticed it was a b-side but notices too late to not listen. add this one to 1001 albums i hope to never hear again before i die.

Quite good - not perfect - but very good.

Mar 04 2024

So mad respect for Johnny Cash - and lot of great covers here - but again - is this an all-time album that simply must be heard??? No, it isn't.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Mar 05 2024

Took your music off Spotify in protest of Joe Rogan? Really?? This album isn't as good as everyone says it is regardless of that unfortunate anti free speech factoid.

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Mar 06 2024

When you look up cliche 60's rock, this is what you find. Scales have definitely tipped in favor of albums I hope to never hear again.

GREY Area by Little Simz
Mar 07 2024

Her 2021 release, Sometime I Might Be Introvert, is better.
