Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Jan 26 2024

really nice mellow rock sound feels kinda like a mix of 70s metal and psychedelic rock, guitar and drums at some parts feels black sabbath-ish some bits felt a little out of place, flute stuff mostly, nice variety between songs though really love a few tracks, stuff like wind up and hymn 43 are really great but it feels a little bit inconsistent in quality

Is This It by The Strokes
Jan 27 2024

Is this it: heard this before, love the nostalgic feel. has a really interesting vibe, feels like home some of the songs kinda blend together, but a few rly stick out Someday: heard this before, very cool Alone together: very cool ideas mixing the different guitar parts in the first verse. Simplistic but really powerful sums up like a lot of songs on the album but this express it very well. part where it gets fast is really great, love how it adds to the chorus when it transitions into that. Solo is really cool, love the stroked guitar work in general. Last nite: Very cool, vocals are really nice, pair well with the guitar. Nice vibe Over all 3.5, wish there was more variety between some songs. Very mellow and simple songwriting can be super powerful and this is a rly cool example.

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Jan 28 2024

Mr. Self destruct: feels like a headache, jarring. Very intense. Feels like a rant more than a song almost. Stuck out to me March of the pigs: Emotion in this song feels very realm idk how else to put it. A warm place felt like a nice break thematically, really pretty song The downward spiral was probably the most interesting to me, the musical ideas are so crazy and work so great with the vocals and lyrics Hurt is easily my favorite song, its a great conclusion to the album. the pain in this song feels so real super innovative album, not big on industrial but this is great. The music works better in this album to compliment the theme and vocals then i have seen in pretty much anything else. 4.5

British Steel by Judas Priest
Jan 29 2024

Pretty fun album, has a more mellow feeling compared to other metal stuff from the 80s. Cool guitar parts throughout. Nothing really stuck out to me though, a lot of it felt uninteresting. some of it just blended together for me. No truly great songs or bad songs tbh, pretty even in quality throughout favorite was probably the rage, loved the guitar 3.5/10

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Jan 30 2024

Black Dog: Great start to the album, sets tone very well. Super interesting guitar parts, great vocals. Super fun song. Rock and Roll: Also super fun, drums are great. Feels like a mix of 50s-60s rock and the start of 70s rock. feels kind of like a bridge between that. super cool drums at the end. The battle of evermore: great acoustic track, super pretty. Love that they delve more into folk. Different genres across this album are really cool. Stairway to heaven: not much needs to be said here, as overplayed as it is this song is a gem, just perfect. Misty Mountain Hop: Really cool, great vocals and drums specifically Four Sticks: i want to be in a long term relationship with john bohnam Going to California: Super pretty acoustic song, love this so much. Feels beautiful and nostaligic. When the Levee breaks: Super nice guitar and vocals, great closer. Everything about this album is iconic, 5/5 easily. Every song is great, no complaints. Guitar vocals drums and bass all feel perfect, writing is great, the general sound is one of my favorites ever. Perfect rock album.3

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Feb 06 2024

Cool album but why is a collection of live tracks on this list? Especially when some of these are on another album already on the list. 3/5, would've been a 4 if it wasn't just a collection of live tracks, some of which not from this album.

Illmatic by Nas
Feb 07 2024

5+4.5+5+4.5+5+5+4.5+5+5 4.83 5/5 Pretty much flawless album. Every sample and rhythm seemed perfect, lyricism was on point track after track. Aesthetic throughout album was also great, lyrics and music.

Exit Planet Dust by The Chemical Brothers
Feb 08 2024

3.5/5 Fun album, maybe a little to repetitive at times. Not a huge amount of variation song to song. Favorite was one too many mornings, great track.

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Feb 10 2024

4/5 Really great musical ideas throughout the album, great lyrics and vocals. Feels very janky but not in a bad way, super unique and inventive. Favs: the magic number, eye know

Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
Feb 11 2024

3/5 I didn't really like or dislike any songs, it was pretty good throughout. Billie holiday is very talented as a singer, even with some of her vocal range being gone in this album. Wish there was more variation throughout, most songs blend together.
