"Let me hear yah say OW!!"
This album starts off a little bit hokey but ends up in some absolutely epic instrumentals ! Bowie seized the synthesizer revolution. Faves: Sound and Vision Always Crashing Subterraneans
Punchy. Fuzzy. Thiccc. Fat synths. Distortion. Seductively understated vocals. Sometimes screaming vocals. Classic! "Closer" always made me feel mad uncomfortable and it's wild that this song is so popular. Resnor might overuse that major third in his melody's. That kind of melody is pretty common for this era though. Maybe that's why it's somewhat boring to my ear. The instrument industrial sounds and beats really do make NIN stand out from the crowd though. A lot of these songs feel like the first club scene in the Matrix. I think I'm realizing I like the NIN band but not so much Trent Resnor's vocals. I would rate higher if there was a different vocal style. Faves: Heresy -love the lyrics on this one A Warm Place -a peaceful moment among the chaos Eraser -another (mostly) instrumental one.
Fantastic album. Even if he's copying Bob Dylan's vocal style.
I did not expect to recognize half of the album. They have so many iconic songs!
