Joe Walsh is so fucking good at guitar. Obviously Hotel California is great, but Life in the Fast Lane (it’s the bass grove for me) is the GOAT track of the record. That Wasted Time string arrangement is sick, considering the song sucks otherwise. Half the album is killer, half is filler. It’s the Eagles, you get great harmonies and some solid easy-rock tunes. Probably a 1/10 on the booty-shakability standard and a 6/10 on the CORN scale.
I put this one off for a while upon release cause it just wasn’t The White Stripes. It’s got some rippers. Really cool guitar tones sometimes it sounds like Jack is trying to be himself, but also Bob Dylan and the Beastie Boys. A lot of killer, some filler. I could see a 3/10 on the booty shakability.
Not Graceland, but still good. Paul Simon is criminally underrated overall.
Some of the tracks are alright, but I just don’t get the Billy Joel hype. Meh.
Beautiful listen for a spring morning. The unexpected jazzy piano, string arrangements, and flowing flute parts really caught me off guard. Enjoyed it a lot. Would buy on vinyl.
Literally one of my favorite albums of all time. It was like a religious experience discovering this taste of “world music” as they call it for the first time. The bouncy rhythm section and chants paired with Paul’s quick witty lyrics and delicate guitar make this his best record in my opinion.
This was unexpectedly great for the most part. Soft vocals, plucked acoustic guitars, overdriven bass, and waves of drony synths. A bunch of my favorite flavors! Would buy on vinyl, wouldn’t shake my booty.
Wow, what an experience. I don’t know who this record is for. Every song is like its own terrible little musical.
Just a solid big band jazz set. I’ve got no complaints, but I wasn’t wowed either.
WTF. I didn’t realize Flav was more than a VH1 character. This shits slaps though. Heavy metal and jazz samples under rhymes against the government? Count me in.
Well, it’s got the Stranger Things song and for some reason an Irish jig near the end. Strange and should have stayed in the 80s.
It’s a banger, boys. Like Gwen Stefani singing David Byrne lyrics over a Frank Zappa punk record.
Im slowly becoming a big fan of whatever this genre of 80s punk is.
