Nick DrakeRelaxing Sunday vibes with beautiful instrumentals. I obviously read his Wikipedia after listening and sad to learn that he never saw his own success. Might listen again if I’m in the mood.

This being a debut album makes it all the more impressive. I’ve heard some songs from this album individually, but listening to them alongside the rest of the album made them make so much more sense. The sound of this album is timeless and artists today should take notes 📝. I get the Frank Ocean hype… Fave Songs: Pyramids, Pink Matter
I couldn’t understand the words but I could understand what they were saying if you know what I mean?? Had me dancing around the apartment for some songs! Fave Song: Irganda (translates to “our environment”)
The whiplash on this album is insane (Blackbird to Piggies to Rocky Raccoon…)?! However, I enjoyed the disjointed insanity. Some songs on this album hold a certain nostalgia for me because 1. my dad is a Beatles fan, 2. I’m a gleek, 3. my sister had an intense Across the Universe phase growing up. I FaceTimed my parents yesterday and it was nice to be able to discuss this album with my dad. He showed me his original White Album vinyl with the artwork inside and said that he put the picture of John Lennon that came with the album in his window the day he died. 🫶🏻 Overall, some songs on this album were ahead of their time (Revolution 9) and others make complete sense for the time (random Birthday song) and I liked it.
The music was great, but I’m just not a fan of his singing style. Sorry Dylan fans 🤷🏻♀️
Bleachers and Arctic Monkeys were def inspired by these guys. I enjoyed the listen. Best album cover so far. 4/5
This album is very excellent!!!!!!!!! Faves: Ms.Jackson, I’ll Call B4 I Cum, Kim & Cookie, We Luv Deez Hoez, Drinkin Again, Stankonia
I love reading about the history of the artist/album after listening. Learning more about music history is one of the reasons I wanted to start this challenge! This album was funky and powerful. Sex Machine is a standout at almost 14 minutes of groove, showcasing solos from all the band members. Good music for doing dishes (I tested it myself). Faves: Everyday People, Sex Machine, You Can Make It If You Try
Ms.Lauryn Hill you will always be famous!! Happy 25th anniversary to this masterpiece of an album. The way this woman and this album are still impacting music today, through samples and being an inspiration to so many artists, speaks to the true genius of a then 23 year old MOTHER. I really enjoyed bopping around to this album yesterday. The kids talking about love was so sweet and fit in so well with the theming of the album. It was also announced yesterday that this album would be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame!! Faves: Ex-Factor, Doo Wop (That Thing), Superstar, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Didn’t love it. Didn’t hate it. It wasn’t really my jam but some songs had me tapping my toe!
I see what’s happening here but there’s just way too much of it. I would be ok with never listening to this again. 😃
Yea this album is really good. I love how The Beatles became mainstream as seemingly normal British boys who make catchy tunes only to reveal themselves as little freaks later on. I’ll end this review with a quote I found while researching this album from Paul McCartney: “We were fed up with being the Beatles. We really hated that fucking four little mop-top approach. We were not boys, we were men ... and thought of ourselves as artists rather than just performers.”
I tapped my toe but probably won’t add any of these songs to the queue unless I’m on a boat with boomers (possible).
This album is iconic. Every song slides into the next like butter and it’s even better when paired with the visual album. Bey sings about womanhood, motherhood, sex, and infidelity?? This album shocked the world in many ways but most notably the way she dropped it at midnight on iTunes with no prior announcements…and it still went number 1. Beyoncé not only inspired dozens of trends from this album but also dropped bangers that I still listen to frequently. 9.8/10 Faves: Pretty Hurts, Haunted, Partition, XO, FLAWLESS REMIX!!
The songs I recognized were good, but overall it was pretty mid. Listening immediately after Cowboy Carter did not help its case. 4.8/10
Trying to imagine what it would be like to listen to Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time in 1975… This album is very fun to listen to and probably would have been amazing to see live! I’ve been going back and forth about whether I wanted to rate this a 5 or not but hey an album doesn’t have to perfect to be a 5 according to my past ratings so!!! 9/10
George Michael walked so Kim Petras could hit 120mph on the highway. Highly recommend watching the music videos for I Want Your Sex; it really ties everything together. 8.8/10
Desperately need to hear this album in a club… 8.9/10
Great music and great beards! None of the songs really stood out to me (maybe bc I was focused on breading chicken cutlets while listening), but I enjoyed the listen! 7.3/10
Lauryn Hill is extraordinary. Didn’t keep my attention the whole time but they still killed it. 7.2/10 (+0.2 bonus for NJ natives)
this one is very good 9.7/10
Still good but not as exciting as other Beatles albums!
This album makes SOOO much more sense after reading Skippy’s Wikipedia page. He recorded this almost immediately after being released from a mental institution and allegedly it was intended to only be a demo recording, but his producer just released it as is?? It’s difficult to understand what he’s saying most of the time and the music feels disjointed, but there are moments of goodness. Probably won’t listen again though.
Wow! These guys can really rock!
Those heads can sure talk!
Tappin my foot!
“If you fall out of love with me don’t let me know” so true Buck 😭 He was sure singin’ what he was thinkin’! Proud of Buck for being so vulnerable (for a man) in 1964.
This album was not made for me, but I appreciate the artistry!
Thank you Kerri for the fun facts about this album! 5/5
Definitely an album by the Beatles!
Willie Nelson gives me good vibes and listening to this album was very relaxing.
Banger after banger after banger!! now if I could just understand what they were singing about
